Great.. no need to drag this thing out.
My first reaction is that since it's only 4 hours after the meeting with Perkins, it means he signed with Kansas... I wouldn't think he'd be ready to bolt so soon if there wasn't an agreement, but what do I know, maybe he's already said yes to OSU. |

KU offers Self new contract
Jack Harry, NBCActionNews.com LAWRENCE, Kan. – An offer is on the table for Kansas coach Bill Self, but it is going to take more than just cash to keep Bill Self at KU. NBC Action Sports has learned the University of Kansas has offered Self an eight-to-10 year contract worth between $25 and $30 million with incentives. The 45-year-old coach met with Kansas athletic director Lew Perkins Wednesday. The only hang up is that Self is negotiating for an upgrade in facilities for his players. He wants to see more money committed to the basketball program, which has been spending a lot of money trying to upgrade the football facilities. Out of respect for his alma mater, Self said he will visit with Oklahoma State officials, most likely over the phone. Self reiterated Wednesday that he loves the University of Kansas and both he and his family want to remain in Lawrence. A new deal may be wrapped up by Thursday.

Nominate | Report Posted: Today 3:25 PM KU press conference today at 4:30 KU sets 4:30 p.m. press conference after Self, AD meet about contract By J. BRADY McCOLLOUGH The Kansas City Star Kansas coach Bill Self talked Tuesday morning about winning the national championship. LAWRENCE | Kansas announced that there will be a 4:30 p.m. press conference today. Around noon, KU coach Bill Self stepped into KU athletic director Lew Perkins’ office at the Parrott Athletic Center. Self and Perkins met for 15 minutes on Wednesday. They planned to meet again today to have a more detailed discussion about Self’s future at KU. Self, who currently has three years left on a deal that pays him $1.375 million per year, has been seeking a contract extension that could put an end to the speculation about him returning to Oklahoma State, his alma mater. |

Bill Self is staying in Lawrence.
According to sources close to the situation, the Kansas head coach will sign an extension that will keep him with the Jayhawks. An official announcement is expected at a news conference at 4:30 p.m. CT. Terms and length of the deal were not immediately known. Self led Kansas to the national championship on Monday night and was the top target of his alma mater at Oklahoma State. However, Self met with Kansas athletic director Lew Perkins on Wednesday and again earlier this afternoon. He will put an end to any speculation that will have him leaving Kansas for the huge payday that Oklahoma State billionaire T. Boone Pickens was reportedly offering. Self previously had three years remaining on a deal that paid him $1.375 million per season. Self, 45, replaced Roy Williams as Kansas coach in 2003 and did what Williams wasn't able to do in 15 seasons — bring a title to Lawrence. The 2008 championship was the Jayhawks' first since 1988, and it ensured Self a big payday whether he left for Oklahoma State or stayed at Kansas. http://msn.foxsports.com/cbk/story/8...s-Kansas-coach |

There's no way he is leaving.
1. He wouldn't have the presser in Lawrence. 2. He couldn't have a deal done with OKst this quickly, after meeting with the KU AD today.

Kansas coach Bill Self said Thursday he will stay at Kansas instead of going to his alma mater Oklahoma State. Self told ESPN.com that he spoke with OSU AD Mike Holder Wednesday night. He said Holder never discussed money but just asked if he wanted to come home. "I couldn't see leaving this place," Self said of KU after winning the national title Monday in San Antonio. "This is where we want to be." Self said that Kansas and he would get together soon on his deal but there was no rush. "I'm still in shock about how we won," Self said of being down nine points to Memphis with 2:12 left. "I'm most proud we made so many plays under pressure." Self said he didn't want to leave KU like he had left Tulsa and Illinois -- on top without enjoying the fruits of the program's success. KU called a 5:30 ET news conference to discuss Self's decision. Senior writer Andy Katz covers men's college basketball for ESPN.com.

Maybe it's like Roy, and the "press conference" is actually a group of reporters in the parking lot following Self, who says "I can't say anything now, but once my plane lands in Stillwater, I plan on clearing everything up". |
