The ONLY similarity is a new regime (duh) and trading a second for a QB.

The Chiefs have not signed a bunch of over-the-hill, early to mid 30's guys whose better days are behind them. The head coach hasn't alienated existing players, the front office hasn't shut out retired former players and no one is insulting the former coaching staff, players or support people.

While there is no guarantee that every signing and trade will result in positives for the Chiefs in 2013, they are making smart and necessary moves in order to field a better team this season.

Now that would be nice.

There is going to be some perfect ILB's available in the 3/4 round for what we need next to DJ. Bostic is an example.

As of this moment, we've got more cap room after this Sean Smith signing than we did at midnight last night.
He was taken off the field and replaced by Burfict's coverage skills...

so, no thanks.

It will work out well enough for them not to look like idiots to 90+% of the fans.

They've added some nice touches to an already promising racecar. Unfortunately, it has a restrictor plate on it.

90% of those fans are already happy with the trade. I still think Alex Smith's max potential is Drew Bree's last year in SD. And that's ****ing wishing on a star....

Maualuga would be a nice depth player but I'd prefer Jones at this point.

I'm really surprised he hasn't seen any more action, especially in KC with his connection to Dorsey.

Haley was a complete unknown and his staff turned out to be garbage, Cassel was an overrated 7th round QB, I was wrong about Piioli...i thought he would be good, but there were many at the time who thought he was garbage and were proven right.

It sucks we didnt get our pick at QB #1 overall, but Reid and Dorsey appear to know what they are doing. I dont get a "WTF?" vibe from them at all.

Realistically, i dont see A. Smith ever winning a championship, but he can at least get the ship stabllized for a few years and hopefully a few playoff appearances. Id much prefer that than the 23-41 garbage of the Piioli years or 29-67 since 2007.
Yes, Alex Smith may have some success here. Not many are denying that.

The polarity on this forum isn't about Geno Smith vs Alex Smith (even though some people want to act like it is), it's about philosophy.

The name Geno Smith is a synonym for "Drafting and developing your own highly rated QB".

You could sub the name out for Clausen or Sanchez or any other QB the Chiefs had a shot at getting. It's not about the player. It's about the philosophy. But that's been completely lost around here.

Buffalo isn't gong to give us their 1st, 2nd, 4th, and next years 1st to swap picks.

At best, we're looking at this years 1st and 2nd, and next years 2nd or 3rd.

That is "AT BEST" mind you.

I'd be happy for a 1st and 2nd and call it good, and I believe even that is pushing it this year.

Don't get greedy with Buffalo. I'd be so desperate to get out of 1.1 that I'd take 1.8 and next year's 1 and be done with it. I'm fine with leaving a second or fourth round pick on the table just to grease the wheels and get the ****ing deal done.
