Where did you purchase yours from? I ordered one from Amazon on the 29th, and they still haven't given me a date that I can expect to actually purchase the device since they are out of stock.

I took 10 days. I was going to order from amazon, but saw that google shopping was estimating shipment dates.

FYI... You can play some videos from your local drive, but not all.
Open Chrome. Click Ctrl+O (or Command+O on a Mac) and select the desired local video file. Works great for any H.264 encoded video. DIVX support isn't as good, but it should play most. MKV files will not work though.. From reports, it's highly recommended that you have an 802.11n router to give it enough bandwidth.

I love mine, but I'm a little disappointed at the slow development. Very google - they're just not great at these things.

It's their MO, like it or not. They put together a very basic version of something, then roll it out and have users guide where their development goes. In the long run, you end up with some great products. In the short run, though, it can be pretty underwhelming compared to the Apple approach of having everything nice and pretty from the beginning.

They release a good product, everyone loves it, and then no news for months. I suspect they're having a hell of a time getting anyone to sign on. ****ing content holders. |

Ever since, I do not buy a google product until I know it can be rooted. Chromecast is a different animal, but I am still leary.
