Maness needs to go down to AAA and get back on track.

Hazelbaker needs to keep playing. We need the long ball this year more than ever.

Wong needs to go see a sports physiologist or something. Get his head right. He is booting routine plays he's been making since elementary school. He could help this team. Just do your job. They gave you a bunch of guaranteed money. Wonder if he thinks he makes an error Matheny will pull him? Playing way too tight.

I'd be willing to bet his struggles at the plate is effecting his defense. Someone needs to get through to him and tell him he's not a homerun hitter and get rid of the extreme Josh Donaldson leg kick, quiet him down, and get him to level out his swing to a gap hitter.

Why is Tejeda starting at 3B? Moss has been hitting bombs lately. And why Carp at 1B? Put Holliday there and play Hazelbaker over Tejeda, why?

And of course he commits a 2 base error to start the game.

The only reason I can think of is getting Carp ready to take over 1B and slide Peraltta into 3B when he comes back. That assumes that Diaz remains hot. But Peraltta isn't due back until the All-Star break, correct?

It's probably just Matheny's fascination with keeping his bench players playing time. Which would be okay if they brought something to the table. Tejeda was a backup plan. A $1.5 1/2 a season backup plan. Diaz has made sure we don't need to cash that insurance policy.

And while we are at it, why is a guy hitting .426 batting 8th in the lineup?
