Could NFL players hold their own in a game of Rugby?

If you got a bunch of NFL badasses and taught them how to play Rugby do you think they could pick the game up quickly and do you think they'd eventually become dominant against other current competition? I know you have to be made of steel and tough as nails to play the sport and it's ridiculously physically demanding etc.

Or do you think they'd get roughed up too much since they're no pads etc...

Thoughts?

I respect the hell out of the game of Rugby. But if you suddenly switched the NFL to a Rugby league all the linemen would be gone and all that would be left is a bunch of guys who can run a sub 4.7 40yd dash at about 240lbs.
Then if they practiced and then played a European Rugby team they would probably win at least 8 out of 10 times.

Yeah, they'd run 40 yards then need a 40 second breather so they could do it again and go slower each time until after 80 minutes they're crawling along.
Fat poofs.

Serious question. Do rugby teams train as intensely as the NFL does?

Dan Snyder references them a lot.

I don't even have to know anything about rugby to know I put all of my money on the All Blacks team.

Charles caused a fumble on the black QB from the redskins. Doubt he would have trouble tackling.

My wife lived in Australia for a year n she said watching rugby was a major disappointment compared to the NFL. If NFL players didn't wear pads and helmets the field would be covered with dead NFL players

Honestly, I think rugby is a joke of a sport. The wasted talent that goes into Rugby League.

I think that the NFL players could compete very successfully in any rugby league simply because of the size and speed of the NFL players. Where the NFL players would struggle is with conditioning.

I want to find a british rugby team board and ask the same question. I think they too would say NFL players would rape them. Then they'd go open the boot of their car and handroll a cigarette.
