Not necessarily.

The oldest documented scent trail that we could uncover in our research is detailed in the book The Complete Bloodhound by Catherine Brey and Lena Reed. The authors write about how "a new record in mantrailing was established" when a Bloodhound handler named Norman Wilson and his three Bloodhounds (Doc Holiday, Queen Guinevere, and Big Nose Kate) successfully tracked a scent trail of three missing people lost in the "wet, dense forests of Western Oregon." By the time Wilson worked his hounds, the scent trail was 322 hours (thirteen days) old. His hounds led Wilson to the bodies of the missing hikers.
We've heard of tracking authorities who believe that a scent trail vanishes once a person walks on pavement and others who believe that a scent trail dissipates after eight hours. At the other end of the spectrum, there are currently a few pet detectives who claim their search dogs can track a lost pet scent trail that is several (five) months old. There is even a pet detective who claims that a specific trailing dog can track a lost pet scent trail that is up to a year old! For decades trailing dogs handled by volunteers and law enforcement officers have only been capable of following scent trails that are less than two weeks old and yet suddenly, people charging a fee for their pet tracking services are miraculously able to train dogs who can track scent trails that are months old. While making such claims opens the door for more business revenue (it enables them to respond on searches where the lost dog has been missing for months), these types of seemingly exaggerated claims put MAR work and the pet detective industry in jeopardy of being dismissed as "a scam" by scent dog industry professionals who understand the fragile nature of scent.

Blood hounds have an incredible nose, as they should since that's what they've been bred for.

I wonder if someone previously burried someone behind the house too?

According to the affidavit, interviews with people involved in the case “revealed conflicting information for a clear direction” for the investigation.

Bradley, the affidavit said, told police she did not initially look for her baby behind the house because she was “afraid of what she might find.”

Besides the baby, the parents told police that three cellphones were missing from the home.

“The three reported missing cellphones have not been located and would include additional evidence,” the affidavit states.

Without detailing what had been recovered prior to this week’s search, the officers seeking the search warrant stated that they have “recovered evidence helpful to further progress the investigation.”

However, they said a more “extensive intrusive” search was needed.

“The items and evidence recovered as of this date supports the need for a thorough, time consuming and systematic search using additional techniques,” the affidavit states. “The land includes a garden area with portions of dirt having an appearance of being recently disturbed or overturned.”

Fort Bragg case offers eerie parallels to Lisa Irwin's disappearance

An 11-month-old girl disappears from her crib.

The frantic young mother reports last seeing the infant around 11:30 p.m. A window to the room is found open. A kidnapping is suspected, an Amber Alert is issued, and family and neighbors worry and grieve.

The case — in which the mother eventually confessed to her child’s murder — erupted four years ago to the month, half the country away.

But now some blogs that thrive on crime stories think a connection can be found to the case of Lisa Irwin.

Deborah Bradley, mother of Lisa, lived at a residence at Fort Bragg, N.C., a little over a mile away from the home where the other infant, Harmony Jade Creech, “disappeared.”

Bradley, the bloggers contend, must have known about the other case. After all, her husband then was a private in the 82nd Airborne, the same unit as the victim’s father.

“After reading the (Deja Vu) post, it sounds like it was a copy cat…,” opined one man, identifying himself as a relative of the North Carolina victim.

An eerie coincidence, yes, one that Kansas City police say they have not
missed.
But the time line does not appear to support anything more. Military records show Pvt. Sean Bradley was discharged in April 2007 — several months before the remains of the Creech baby were found in the attic, stuffed in a plastic-wrapped diaper box.

Sean and his wife and their little boy were likely back in the Kansas City area at the time.

The 25-year-old mother, Johni Michelle Heuser, confessed within hours in the 2007 case; her baby had died weeks earlier, and she was scared of being charged and losing custody of her other kids.

Her husband had been in Iraq when Harmony was born, and the day he arrived home and wanted to see the child, suddenly she was said to be missing.

Heuser was sentenced to 11 to 15 years for second-degree murder — hardly a model for an unsolvable crime, remark the more skeptical bloggers.

This morning the news said the police took an exact replica of the purple outfit from the home that Lisa was put to bed in.

It was the same outfit the baby was wearing when she disappeared. There may have been another outfit that was the same.

If they put the baby in the walls, tbh they deserve to be hung. How stupid and awful can a human be.
