RIP. He seemed like a nice man.

But I'll never understand the following that show had. I thought it was horrible even when I was a little kid. Thank God the Batman movies that came later (with the exception of the two Joel Schumacher turds) were mostly serious.

I think it helps if you realize that the creators were fully aware of how cheesy and campy the enterprise was.

If you think they're trying to make a serious show, it comes of crappy.

If you realize they're purposefully making a silly show in a serious manner, it turns into sly dry humor.

It just never worked for me. It's not like a didn't like silly shows - I loved shows like Gilligan's Island and Get Smart. This one just seemed lame, and still does.

Funny, I'd wager than 99% of the times I've heard or read the word "campy" in my life are in reference to this show. If someone gave me the word "campy" in a word-association test, I'm sure my response would be "batman."

That's fine. I'm not some huge champion of the show. It's decent for what it is.

Just providing a perspective because you said you didn't understand what people saw in it.

Anyone who is a fan of the old show should be sure to check out Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders (2016). There is also a sequel coming out that features William Shatner as Two Face.

I was the same with reruns as a kid. Just didn't get it.

That being said it always seemed like Adam West was a really good guy.

That scene in the Batman movie where he's hanging from the batcopter ladder and he's fighting off that shark had me in tears laughing.

Is that when he forgot to apply his Bat Shark Repellant Spray?

I think that was Peter Benchley's motivation for Jaws.
