It's WPI garbage, but a good read on the Chiefs current OL prospects, nontheless.

http://kan.scout.com/a.z?s=115&p=10&c=741205&refid=4781

I missed the Herman ****ing Edwards claim that Rudy would be the starter at center if the season started today.

I have high hopes for Taylor at RT, though some think he'll be a B/U at LT.

Not a bad read, but not optomistic.

Especially at RT and RG.

I think it was kind of just granted since Welbourne signed w/ the Donks. Sure Waters can play center. But you would be robbing Peter to pay Paul. It's obvious Waters works at LG, let him stay and let the new blood come in. If that whole O-line can stay healthy, the Chiefs might have a shot at moving the ball more often.

I'd rather see Niswanger at C, Stallings or Taylor at RG and the Chiefs first rounder at RT. That way in next years draft/free agency the Chiefs can start rebuilding the left half of the O-line.

I didn't think it was granted, since the talk all offseason had been about moving Waters to center.

I'm pleasantly surprised to see that Herman ****ing Edwards and staff decided to give Niswanger an opportunity.

I like Taylor at RT.
He's a big strong guy with some athletic ability, who played a little at LT last year and acquitted himself fairly well there.

From the article on Damion McIntosh.

Quote:
OT Damion McIntosh

He isn’t the long-term answer at left tackle, but McIntosh held down the fort reasonably well in his first season as a Chief. Although he’ll remain a starter in 2008, where exactly he’ll line up seems up in the air at the moment.

If the Chiefs can find a new left tackle in the draft, McIntosh is the obvious candidate to move to the opposite side of the line. But if the team can add two new tackles, or someone already on the roster steps up to fill the right tackle spot, McIntosh may be a consideration at guard.

It would be a gamble, however, considering he’s only played two games at guard in his career. He also didn’t appear to be a particularly strong run blocker last season.
Why in hell would you move him to either RT or guard in run oriented offense?

It makes absolutely no sense.

Welbourn signed with Denver? I was not aware of that, I knew about Wiegmann but not Welbourn.

No kidding. He's the worst run blocker of the group.

But people have to hang on to the hope that we draft a LT, and they need a place to move McIntosh, whether it makes sense or not.

In my world, Macintosh is a backup LT & thats it.

I also think that maybe too much is being read into the "if the season started today" comment about Niswanger...he might have a leg up, but theres still an awful lot of time before then. I hope he grabs it by the throat.

Pepe Leffew???, he wont be stopped until he gets what he wants...

I continue to believe that the Chiefs are not drafting their LTotF this Draft.

They're doing to draft G, G, C, and/or RT. But they're not going to worry about LT until next Draft.

I think he meant Wiegmann. I checked the roster and only found Wigger, checked the NFL roster of folks and Welbourn hadn't signed with anyone yet?

It's the Chiefs talking about moving McIntosh, not "people hanging their hope on drafting a LT". Gretz said the same thing about him.

Sorry, BR, I enjoy your posts, but that's BS.

There are a TON of people who are advocating drafting a LT, no matter who, and moving McIntosh to RT, or even worse, guard.

Gretz is going to say that because he's Carl Peterson's puppet.

If we do happen to draft a LT, then McIntosh should be nothing more than his backup, IMO.

Playing him at RG or RT in a smashmouth offense would be like using a piece of gum to fill a crack in a dam.

Then i hope its just pre-draft, idle speculation on their part...i'll trust the coaches, but McIntosh never looked good in the run game...i thought so early on.

He's got fairly nimble feet, good size & length, which he uses pretty well in pass pro, keeping guys off him...but he just doesnt look good slamming into guys & sustaining drive blocks. He's a vet version of Chris Williams from this years draft IMO.
