Who do you think will be our Day One starter at QB next season?

Poll to follow unless I intentionally throw it into the ground to avoid a turnover.

My gut tells me, regardless of who is GM, that Matt Barkley will be the opening day starter (the Chiefs winning too many games to draft Geno Smith).

If Cassel is the starter of this team next year.

That will be the last straw...the final nail in the coffin, I will no longer be a Chiefs fan.

I will continue to post here...but it will be nothing but Chiefs bashing threads/posts.

Here's the list of them by team. The only two teams that have not drafted a quarterback in the first round during this period (1984-2012) are Kansas City and New Orleans. (In fairness, we've traded first-round picks for both Montana and Green in the past.)

4 teams have drafted four first-round quarterbacks.
7 teams have drafted three first-round quarterbacks.
11 teams have drafted two first-round quarterbacks.
8 teams have drafted one first-round quarterback.
2 teams have not drafted a first-round quarterback.

Bills - Losman
Dolphins - Tannehill
Patriots – Bledsoe
Jets – Sanchez, Pennington
Ravens - Flacco, Boller
Bengals – Palmer, Ak Smith, Klingler
Browns - Weeden, Quinn, Couch, Kosar (suppl. Pick)
Steelers - Roethlisberger
Texans - Carr
Colts – Luck, P. Manning, George
Jaguars - Gabbert, Leftwich
Titans - Locker, V. Young, McNair, J. Everett
Broncos - Tebow, Cutler, Maddox
Raiders – Russell, Marinovich
Chargers - E. Manning, Leaf

Cowboys – Walsh (suppl. Pick), Aikman
Giants - P. Rivers, D. Brown (suppl. Pick)
Eagles – McNabb
Redskins - Griffin, J. Campbell, P. Ramsey, Shuler
Bears – Grossman, McNown, Harbaugh
Lions - Stafford, Harrington, A. Ware, C. Long
Packers - Rodgers
Vikings – Ponder, Culpepper
Falcons – Ryan, Vick, C. Miller
Panthers – Newton, K. Collins
Buccaneers – Freeman, Dilfer, Testaverde
Cardinals – Leinert, Rosenbach (suppl. Pick), Stouffer
Rams - Bradford
49ers - A. Smith, Druckenmiller
Seahawks – Mirer, D. McGwire
Of those 66 first round QB picks, I only count 5 that took the team that drafted them to a SB win (6 if you count Eli Manning since the Giants essentially got him with a draft day maneuver and a little help from Archie. 4 if you don't count Trent Dilfer). Did I miss any? That's depressing.

That is indeed depressing, because we're all assuming it's the answer. Apparently the correct answer is that you don't need a 1st-round quarterback, but rather you need a great quarterback. Of course, the only way to get one of those is in the first round or in some sort of 6th-round lightning bolt from Mount Olympus.

We still have 18 guys who are still playing for the team that drafted them, and most of them are young. So maybe the number will go up. And I count three more who went to a Super Bowl with their original team and lost (McNabb, McNair, and Grossman), excluding PManning. And a few others who made it to the championship game - Flacco(?), Kosar, Culpepper, and Alex Smith. So it seems like the performance curve overall is decent, with roughly one in five making it to a conference championship with their team. However, one in five odds isn't exactly our expectation.

Keep in mind it's also these drafted QB's that have gone to multiple SB's.

Brady, Ruthlessrapist, Manning, etc. That's like 8 SB's right there...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).
