It seems proven average to bad coaches are preferred over coaches who might be able to be something better like Sean Payton, Mangini and Kubiac. Why teams try to do it with guys like Art Shell, Denny Green and the such who have been given a lot of chances and done nothing with them I will never understand. Might as well try up and comers. That is how you end up with a Lovie Smith or the such.

However, if he decided he wanted another shot at the NFL, this would be the perfect situation.
