AFC Scout Calls Bridgewater a 2nd Rounder

Can't get over his size/body type. Interesting opinions. I would think Russell Wilson's success would lessen some size concerns.

Yes I agree you don't basically announce to the rest of the league what you are or are not doing until you are on the clock.
I was referring more to the fact that there was not a QB worth the 1.1 pick last year. It appears that will likely be the same case this year as well.

I just don't see how you can justify it.
#1: Matthews is the best player in the draft.
#2: They've got solid OLB's in Reed and Mercilus.
#3: Cutler is better than what you are going to hope to get from any of the QB's in this draft.
#4: Bookend tackles are not a bad thing in this day and age of the NFL where defensive coordinators are shifting guys all over the line/bringing stunts blitzes.

Drafting a rookie QB for that team is a waste. They need to win now. Get the best free agent QB you can find, give him the protection to make the throws.

That's how you justify it. Because you can't justify a rookie QB at #1 when you need to win now. The best offensive tackle in the draft (and he'd have been the best offensive tackle in the draft last year if he came out), play him opposite of Duane Brown at RT and it's a win/win.

Yeah, the 2nd part is a discussion for 3-4 years down the road. I just don't get the point of owners going out and showing the teams hand to other teams. Just say we need to evaluate each player and we'll choose the best player for us come April.

If they don't learn and want to repeat the Shaub mistake...they can't complain when it blows up in their face again.

They need a QB..the only reason I wouldn't take one is if they can move down to 7-10 and add another first next year because they like 2-4 of the available qbs the same.

If they can get Manziel and another first, they need to get it done.

I'm not saying that they don't need a QB. They do.

The thing is, it's hard to move down from that #1 spot. Teams want too much for the pick and it's difficult to justify mortaging your future on an unproven player for a position that will need several seasons of learning and maturing prior to really gaining any benefits - if that ever even happens.

I think that there are too many questions regarding the top QB's in this draft versus a guy like Matthews, who appears to be one of those guys who you can just plug in and get solid performance from the get go.

The real problem for Houston is that Clowney didn't follow up 2012 like many expected. If he had a similar season, then I think Houston would have trade potential for the #1 pick. As it stands, I think that they are locked into taking Matthews at the first pick and then look at a QB a little later in the draft.

Like I stated, I think guys like Tahj Boyd or Aaron Murray give you just as much as a guy like Bridgewater. In fact, I think Boyd has the potential to be this years Russell Wilson. He's shorter than what you want, but he's got a thick frame, a nice arm with a good release and he's shown the capability of stepping up on a big stage and carrying his team.

If I was Houston, I'd make every effort to sign Cutler and then draft Tajh Boyd, Aaron Murray or David Fales in the third round area. I think all three guys are pretty solid NFL prospects.

I think that is where we disagree.

Cleveland is picking 4th. There is no doubt in my mind they would give their first and second first rounders to flip spots with the Texans.

No doubt in my mind.

It's completely possible that both Bridgewater and Manziel could be off the board by the fourth pick, but I doubt it.

Personally, I think Jay Cutler is going to be a pretty rich guy after this free agency.

I think he would of been a prime fit in Cleveland.

With Chud, and Norv.

Not a huge fan of Boyd. He certainly doesn't have the arm strength that Wilson has.

interesting; I actually just saw a scroll at the bottom of the screen announcing he's leaving for the draft etc and was projected to go #1 overall.

quite a gap. Maybe this off-season coming up to the draft will be more interesting than last years.

Dolphins and Chiefs aren't picking #1?

Yup, pretty good chance it will be a QB going #1.
