but again

I am a staunch Eli supporter and consider him to be a hall of fame talent and one of the top 4 (Eli, Peyton, Brady, Rodgers) QB's in the NFL.

I think of Alex Smith as a Rich Gannon type of QB. I don't think he's elite but I definitely think he's worthy of being an NFL starter for 10 teams, or so.

different era before salary cap to me is meaningless

Fact. The NFL adjusted rules to facilitate offenses.

The salary cap had nothing to do with that.

RGIII has a god damn cannon. He's also insanely accurate and has one of the best deep balls in the NFL.
