Cool demographic information.
This link shows the ranking of the top 100 urban areas of the U.S. for every Census from 1790 through 1990. You can see where particular cities topped out, and which ones have been rising or falling in rank over time. It's way cool.
For example, Kansas City peaked at the #19 rank in 1920 and held that spot for four decades before falling off. You can see how the World Wars helped Norfolk, and who knew that a place called Moyamensing, Pennsylvania was once among America's 30 largest cities? Sorry, it's too big to cut and paste here.
