AWD with snow tires > FWD with snow tires > AWD with all season tires > FWD with all season tires

This is basic stuff, guys. FWD is just fine in the snow if you're prepared. AWD really only helps you from a stop if you don't have snow tires. Other than that, they're exactly the same.

My wife has a FWD Honda CR-V and I drive a '09 Forester (has a manual so has the 50-50 full time AWD). Similar sized cars. We run both with snow tires in the winter and the Subie runs circles around the CR-V in the snow, especially on a hill where the front tires are unloaded.
