Of course the Chargers are 'capable' of defeating Denver, esp in San Diego.
Neither team has a stellar defense, but Denver's defense has a serious advantage in takeaways - SD is very poor here. Both offenses turn the ball over too much, with Denver's primarily being fumbling issues. I think Denver is a -1 overall and SD is a -7 overall, combine that with the huge points scored per game differential (about 19 more for Denver) and the fact that SD really doesn't pick it up offensively in the 2nd half, compared to Denver and SD's best hope of winning is to jump out to a big lead early. We know how that worked out the last time they played in SD. Denver's offense and overall their team really picks it up in the 2nd half, they score a lot more points in the second half. Compare that to SD - they've scored only 2 more points in the 2nd half of games (97 compared to 95 in the combined first halves of games). The fewest points scored by Denver was 33 and that was at IND.. the most points SD has scored in a game is 33 @ PHI. SD's defense is not as good as IND's on a consistent basis. So, I'm sorry to bust your bubble, Buck - but, coming out of the bye week, Denver isn't losing @ San Diego.

Ok, I guess they will likely lose given the data. Silly me.

Chargers 34 Rivers loses it in typical heartbreak fashion. Manning throws 13 ducks and 2 picks (one of those being for six). Fin. |

Chargers will go up 24-0 and in typical late fashion blow it and Rivers will kick the ball instead of throwing it. He'll also mouth the words "Worst night ever!"

Could go either way. Either the Chargers will do their usual routine of following up an embarrassing loss with an unexpected win to get our hopes up again, or they'll have their usual chokejob in a marquee matchup.

Madden NFL predictions for Sunday
4. Peyton Manning has a losing record against just four quarterbacks (minimum five starts). Philip Rivers is one of those quarterbacks, as he's gone 4-3 against Manning. Make that 5-3 after this week. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap200...k_writers_rank |

Chargers 17 Hope I'm wrong, but let's be realistic. The Chargers are not in the same class as the Broncos. It's going to be an ass-kicking. Again, hope I'm wrong, but knowing I'm not. |
