Vikings: Daunte reworks deal
The News
Quarterback Daunte Culpepper and the Vikings agreed to restructure Culpepper's contract, team VP Rob Brzezinski told the Associated Press. While Brzezinski declined to provide specifics, he did indicate that Daunte will get a raise from the 10-year, $102 million extension he signed in 2003.
Our View
The Vikings have more room under the salary cap than any NFL team, so this is a great opportunity to pay Daunte without taking a cap hit. It's also a way for new owner Zygi Wilf to stress that with traded superstar Randy Moss no longer in Minnesota, this is unquestionably Culpepper's team.

This is way out of hand. This is why the average fan cannot take his family to games. No matter what others think these guys aren't worth that kind of money. The more money they get the more money we have to pay.

A man's got to feed his family, doesn't he?

But more importantly, WTF is a Zygi Wilf?

The Vikes went to Daunte and agreed to re-work his contract. They figured he deserved it, as he was making less GUARANTEED money than the likes of Alex Smith, Eli Manning, David Carr, Joe Harrington, ect.

You can ignore that $100m figure. The reality of what he would have gotten paid is a fraction of that.
