Sorry if it's a repost, but I'm seeing a lot of talk about this... thought we might centralize the discussion.

This makes me excited.

During a March 21, 2008 Official Xbox Magazine podcast interview, Todd Howard revealed that the game had expanded to nearly the same scope as Oblivion. There were 500 versions of the final cutscene, but due to recent upgrades, there are now over 10,000 different versions, which was determined by all of the actions taken by the player.

Turn based probably wasn't the best way to describe it. You basically pause the game and queue up attacks on various parts of enemies' bodies. You have a % chance of hitting the target based on your skills and stats.

But yeah, Fallout doesn't really play like a shooter.

I learned one thing, you cant shoot inside megaton. haha i had to go back n start from getting out of the vault.

That's one of the few things that bugged me so far.

First main story "mission" outside the Vault:

Everyone talks about what an asshole Moriarty is, so when I picked my way into his private area and started chatting him up, I didn't believe a word he was saying. So after I paid him an exorbitant 100 caps to tell me where my father was -- fat chance -- I did the only thing that came naturally: I blew his ****ing head off.

I ran outside to avoid suspicion, but it was too late. I had two people waiting outside for me, and they... were shooting?! Why? That guy was a dickhead! Jericho, you yourself told me how to steal from him because you couldn't stand his guts! Why are you shooting at me?

From what i figured out so far.

One of the first things you want to do is either make that bomb blow up that town or disarm it. Depends how you want to play this game.

You need a place to stay in either Megaton or get a deluxe apartment in the sky at Tenpenny towers to put all your stuff.

I have the bought gaming guide for it. Everything is overwhelming me so far.

OK, I'm confused by this. You're playing it on a PC with a 360 controller? How does that work?

360 controller is USB

It works on PC/Mac

If you have a wired controller, you can plug it into your PC.

If you're like me, and have a wireless controller, you need Microsoft's wireless receiver. You can use any wireless 360 device on the PC that way.

The wired method works but not sure about the wireless.

Do you have to program the interface, or does it do that automatically?

Most games auto-map the controls, and if the game is Games for Windows Live enabled (like Fallout 3 or Crysis), 360 controller support is native.

The only recent game that gave me a problem out of the box is NBA 2K9. Their default controller settings were atrocious, but a quick reconfiguration fixed it.

actually did it again on accident. YOu just have to spend a little time away from there and they will like ya again after a bit.

Picked mine up today. Taking Friday off. Nice little 3 day weekend glued to the PS3.

I picked up Fallout 3 and the wireless receiver. Still playing Fable, but I'll probably hook it up and test it out later tonight.

My god, i got lost in the subway station for a good 45 min. My only complaint is that you cant hardly see shit at times. I guess thats how they want it to be, but its really dark. I thought Bioshock was bad.
