Idea to help out busy server!

Free messageboards as a backup. Warpaint illus. sucks and doesn't work.

Would reduce load on server. Anyone want to create one? I would use it.

Here's a simple suggestion for the Mods: on high-volume days, disable avatars and signatures.

This has been discussed more times than you can imagine. It has nothing to do with avatars and sigs - it's a database issue. There are two backup boards available and a chat room, but they don't get much use.

It's been discussed- but has it been tried out? Since the slowdowns indicate the Mods do not know (yet) how to fix the problem, why not experiment?

Yes, it has been tried. No, it doesn't help. This has been a problem for years. The issue is a combination of server hardware, database design, and old software. Any fixes would have to come with the guy who owns it all, and he's not around much.

If there are 2 backup boards and a chartroom links to them should be thrown on the 'Server busy' message to help more immediately lighten the load.
