Would you consider placing a vote tabulator on the home page to see if there is any intrest in getting Joe Delaney's number on the Ring of Fame?
We must all understand that the provision for retiring his number is that he be in the Pro-Footbal Hall of Fame. This may never happen.

I hope you all know me, at least by my posts. Adam Jassey and I have started the ground work for the 37 Forever Foundation. We have contacted Mr. Hunt and are waiting for his response.

The KC Star is waiting for "a ground swell of intrest" before they will even consider writing about Joe. I tried to get Adam Tiecher to read the article on ChiefPlanet home page. I figured he would see a great article and maybe pick up on it and give AZChief the lions share of the line. But he said.....no.

How about some help?

What was Tiecher's reason for "no?"

Have you put together a Joe D. web site?

Tom,

Why do you keep making the assumption that he must be in the HOF prior to making the ROF? Only 3 people on our ROF are in the HOF, correct? That's an incorrect assumption and it almost sounds like sour grapes.

KPhobia,

The statement about being in the HOF before the number is retired came from Lamar Hunt. I'm not sure when they started using that as a pre-requisite. As for the ROF, that is open to any Chief that is deserving. I hope I didn't really sound as if it were sour grapes towards the Chiefs.

The sour grapes would be towards the Star, they have consistantly told us that nobody wants to hear any more about Joe Delaney. I feel they are wrong. It would just take a few fans to get the ball rolling.

Bob Dole also feels that there are probably some younger fans that would like to hear about their teams history. (Not like there's much positive to write about presently.) Probably some that have never heard of Delaney that would like to read about a player the caliber of Joe.

Heck, an entire series covering memorable players and incidents would be cool. They touched on the Davidson-Dawson issue slightly earlier this year. Steve Deberg and the pinky t-shirts... We had an entire thread devoted to memorable moments that would be good fodder for articles.

As Bob Dole stated once before--Bob Dole runs into complete strangers in Texas that will come up and start a 20 or 30 minute conversation about Joe Delaney when they see Bob Dole's Delaney jersey.

I would guess that we should start some sort of campaign to uncover the intrest in some sort of "Chiefs History" to be published. Heck we may have to do this ourselves, our sole representative in the KC area doesn't seem intrested in moving along these lines.

Thanks to Bob Dole for birthing the idea to make it more of a Chiefs History.

Any other ideas?

Another thought--do you all have a "press kit" giving background on the story and the foundation?

You know the "John 3:16" people that are always sitting in endzones? Why not attempt to have a "What about Joe Delaney?" effort. Send the press kit to whatever network is covering the game that week so the announcers have the material to comment on the sign. List a web site address on the sign as well, where interested people could find more information on Joe Delaney and the foundation's efforts.
