Branden Albert trade won’t happen unless he lowers his price

Branden Albert trade won’t happen unless he lowers his price

Branden Albert AP

The much-discussed potential trade of Branden Albert from the Chiefs to the Dolphins doesn’t appear likely at the price Albert is currently seeking.

Although the Chiefs and Dolphins can probably agree on compensation — the Dolphins sending a second-round pick to Kansas City — the hangup is that Albert wants the kind of money that the Dolphins aren’t willing to spend. Specifically, according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, Albert wants between $8 million and $9 million a year on a long-term deal.

In other words, Albert is looking for the same kind of contract that left tackle Jake Long got from the Rams — the very contract the Dolphins wouldn’t give Long, which is why he left Miami for St. Louis.

If the Dolphins weren’t willing to pay Long that kind of money, it’s hard to see why they’d be willing to give up a second-round draft pick for the privilege of paying Albert that kind of money. So the Dolphins may need to look elsewhere for a left tackle. And Albert may have to settle for playing this season for the Chiefs, making $9.8 million, and hitting free agency next year.

Which is it?

Stafford also has the best WR in football, throws the ball a TON.
Alex Smith was a primary reason the 49ers won their playoff game over the Saints. His defense struggled and he put up 4 TD's and had a great game. Even made the winning throw.

I think the Jets defense had more of an impact than Sanchez. Sanchez only had 1 good game in the playoffs out of 6.

Stafford on that same Jets team at the time goes to the SB IMO. He's just better than Sanchez.

That's why he's still high on the QB list while Sanchez is falling fast.

I think the Jets defense had more of an impact than Sanchez. Sanchez only had 1 good game in the playoffs out of 6. Wrong. He played well in the Pats, Indy, SD, and the 2nd half of the Pitt game

Stafford on that same Jets team at the time goes to the SB IMO. He's just better than Sanchez. I agree with the last part of the sentence

First off, I think they both are basically shit. Stafford is injury prone and has had 1 good year, and hasn't progressed at all.

But to say Sanchez only had 1 good game in the playoffs?

the lesson from 2009 is that the team that drafted a QB went to 2 AFC championship games....said QB taking dump on the patriots home field along the way

the Chiefs didn't draft a QB, won nothing, became the most embarrassing franchise in the league, and now have the #1 pick in the draft

and you are the ****ing idiot who spent years lecturing this board on Cassel's talent and pioli's genious...which makes you biggest ****ing tard on the planet...

the Chiefs have not drafted a QB for decades, just as you and every other squirrel humping yam eater on this board has advocated on a yearly basis since pioli was cock punching cassel in his cradle..

the idea that anything could be 'risked' in drafting a QB - any QB, ever - compared to the decades of failure and embarrassment created specifically by NOT drafting QBs is laughable...

Stafford is more talented than Sanchez. It's not close at this point. Physically, he's just better.

But, and maybe I'm too picky, I wouldn't take Stafford to build around at this point with what he is now.

Sanchez has consistently been one of the worst regular season QBs in the league, who occasionally puts up a good half here and there in the playoffs. And I would still have rather made that pick - as someone who is not a fan of sanchez - because there was never any real possibility that Tyson Jackson would be a meaningful difference maker. Which is the same reason we shouldn't be drafting Luke Joeckel at 1. Picking safe is picking stupid. It's spending enormous draft value for a lateral move.

Didn't Sanchez do all his playoff stuff on the road too?

I remember being pretty impressed at the time. He certainly wasn't putting up video game stuff, but he was playing pretty well and making plays.

Damn though, he's fallen hard.

While I do agree to some extent, I don't think people should have to come in guns blazing just to post. I think it sucks when a n00b offers their opinion, a valid opinion, and then gets shit on just because everyone thinks that is OK to do.

But, the real problem with the site right now is the Geno/Anti Geno parties. It has gotten way too extreme lately. Same with the LT/anti LT crowd. I normally look forward to reading CP every day and all that shit has even made me take a little time off.

I happen to be pro QB and anti LT as well but I don't spew hate at everyone that disagrees with me.

If that was the lesson, the Jets wouldn't have been looking to unload Sanchez as part of the Revis trade. Sanchez has been garbage so far in his career, and that team won in spite of him, not because of him. He did play a couple of good playoff games, though, to give him his due.

All on the road, IIRC.

I think he's over 60% completion and something like 9:2 TD:INT. And a 4-2 record.
