We have two things to look forward to this year:

1) The potential beginning of the Maty Mauk Era. Mauk represents the best chance for this program to get back to a level of respectability after horrendous QB play cost us multiple games last year.

2) The last year of the Gary Pinkel era. Pinkel's entrenched cronyism won't play in a conference this competitive, especially if he couples his abysmal gameday coaching with lackadaisical, worst-in-conference recruiting. Pinkel was the formerly adequate meal that has now turned into a four pound bowel obstruction. It's time to jam a Fleet's enema up our collective asses.

Here is the schedule. We dodge Alabama, LSU, and Arkansas in the west and the Non-con is decidedly weaker than years past.

Looks like 6-6. Undefeated in non-con, 2-6 in league play.

I will eventually update the OP with a list of high profile in-state recruits that decide to go elsewhere after a half-assed attempt to gain their services. The inevitable cavalcade of *** rejects, skeezers, skanks, and scalliwags we get will fill out the ranks.

Since every Mizzou thread eventually dies of AIDS, I recommend starting anti-retroviral therapy immediately. I believe Walgreens covers Express Scripts.

I'll be happy with 2 more wins at this point. 3 would be great. MU defense is stellar, but Mauk will make too many mistakes.

We'll have to see. As I noted, many people wanted him to replace Franklin prior to the season. There must have been some reason for that optimism regarding his play.

The only good thing for us is that we play the next 3 games at home....let's hope being at home helps Maul adjust.

I think the doom and gloom of MM is a little short sighted - he was the heir apparent - and a top recruit. plus he can get two chicks on a moped.

Mizzou's James Franklin to miss time

ATHENS, Ga. -- Missouri coach Gary Pinkel said he expects quarterback James Franklin to be out at least the next couple of weeks, and possibly longer, after suffering a separated right throwing shoulder Saturday in the fourth quarter of the No. 25 Tigers' 41-26 win against No. 7 Georgia.

Pinkel said he didn't know the degree of Franklin's separation, but he would know more Sunday.

The senior quarterback, who was plagued by injuries all of last season, watched the remainder of Saturday's game from the sideline with his arm in a sling.

Redshirt freshman Maty Mauk replaced Franklin and made several key plays to help keep the Tigers (6-0, 2-0 SEC) unbeaten.

"I don't want to give you a number that's not accurate, but it looks like the next few weeks (Franklin) will be out," Pinkel said.

Some of Franklin's teammates talked Saturday as if it could be longer.

"It's a huge loss. I'm saddened by it. I'm a James Franklin fan. It's a huge loss, especially the way that guy had been playing," Missouri senior receiver L'Damian Washington said.

"You can enjoy this win. But at the same time, you really can't because I know most of what I do is because of James Franklin. He's that good. I have faith in Maty Mauk. I know he's going to step up. He has to lead this team right now. He doesn't have a choice."

Franklin was visibly upset in the locker room after the game.

"I feel for him," Pinkel said. "He was having such a great year."

Grade 2 separation is bad news, means he has a complete tear in one of the ligaments connecting the shoulder.

He may not play again this year.

Career ending. Thought this might be the case when he came back out with the sling. If it were a 2-week thing, the player doesn't usually do this (or the team allow it).

Yeah, almost certainly. He's now, like it or not, wearing the Brokaki label. Dude cannot stay healthy.

While he took a good shot today, that's far from an abnormal hit on a QB. Dude's body isn't up to the task, unfortunately, no matter if his heart is.
