The current best of the Chiefs 2008 draft (besides Charles)

Jamaal Charles is the last of the Chiefs' supposedly glorious franchise-rebuilding draft class from 2008. The others either sucked or became cap casualties.

So here's a question. If you could have any one player back on the team from this draft class at his CURRENT level of ability, who would you take?

Since this is a thought experiment, ignore contracts and money. Imagine the NFL is going to pay for all contract expenses. The Chiefs would get to keep that player on the team for as long as they want until they believe he's washed up and can't benefit the team any more.

The player must also remain at the position they played for the Chiefs. Albert doesn't get to be moved to guard. Flowers CAN, however, be the team's slot corner.

Also, I'm only including players on the list who are currently in the NFL. I know you all still think Brian Johnston has the potential to be an outstanding pass rusher, but because he's gone from the league, he's not an option.

Poll forthcoming

3 different administrations. Of course there will be major roster turnover.

We didn't play man when he was here either. He's always been a zone corner so I don't know how well he'd fit in here. He has the size and all, but he's never played what our CBs are playing now.

This. Albert gets my nod.

Carr didn't play well, at all, last year.

Also, he got megatron'd for about six trillion yards in one game. I mean say what you want about flowers, but nobody set an NFL record against him last year. Calvin Johnson put up QB numbers against Carr. I know he's Calvin Johnson...but still... 329 yards?

I would only put Carr above flowers because I think he will have longevity. On performance to date it's flowers hands-down. I'd even go so far as to say anyone who thinks Carr has been better Flowers is a ****ing moron.

Agreed.

Flowers hasn't been able to stay healthy for about 3 years now, and his dings seem to be worse, and affect him more, each year

I chose Flowers...but it was a pretty impulsive selection. I should have selected Albert. The thing I can't get out of my head with Flowers though, is that it seemed like whenever he was taken out of the game, everything seemed to ****ing implode and go to shit. I could be off on my observation, but that's just how it seemed to me.

Flowers > Carr, IMO. Not that this influences my opinion, but I read something kind of interesting a couple years ago when the Cowboys acquired Carr. One of their fans claimed to have run into Flowers's dad and they were like, "yeah, we are excited to get Brandon Carr. Do you think your son will perform well, now that his best friend is no longer on the team and more pressure will be on him?" And the guy claimed that Old Man Flowers said, "I like Brandon. He's a good friend of my son and he's a great friend of the family, but he is nowhere near the caliber of a football player as my son. My son has to compensate for the miniscule areas where Brandon Carr lacks." I dunno, it was something along those lines. This doesn't influence my opinion at all, for this guy on the Cowboys message board could be full of shit...not to mention, of course Old Man Flowers is going to have that opinion...he is his dad... I just thought it was interesting.

****ing Albert?

The guy had one somewhat better than mediocre season and the rest were subpar and he's now the best of the group?

**** that.

Flowers
Carr
Dorsey
Albert
Richardson

You can make Dorsey and Albert a tie. Would be justice as they were both top 15 first round picks that year and have markedly underperformed to date.

It's Flowers and it's not even close.

**** Carr and his show me the money bullshit. People around here get a hard on for anyone who is prototype and flashes. But Carr hasn't done shit. Flowers can play. He's a guy you can put on an island (when healthy) and there isn't that many guys in the league you can say that about.

There's got to be more to his injuries than what's been brought to light as you just don't find guys like that, cap hit or no cap hit.
