Would rather be in Cotton than Cap One, anyway.
1) Missouri will have a better fan presence in Dallas due to location, ease of travel, and the large Mizzou alumni base in Dallas. 2) Starting next year, the Cotton Bowl is a major bowl. To the average fan, in 10-15 years, they'll look at those two Cotton Bowl trophies from 2007 and this year (should Mizzou win) as big-time appearances/wins. 3) Would much rather play a top 15 Oklahoma State team than an unranked Wisconsin or Iowa. Good chance to earn back some more national respect.

Edit: Most people aren't old enough to remember that the Cotton Bowl used to be one of the major bowls. Not sure when it took a backseat status, but it appears that the Cotton Bowl and Peach Bowl (another of the old bowl games) will take their place in the BCS status starting next year. |

I can understand all that, and I'm not pissed about it or anything. But the main reason I've heard for wanting the Cap One Bowl over the Cotton is for recruiting...since it's in the middle of a great SEC recruiting area that we're trying to move into.

That is what is killer in College Football, you develop the players and you get 1-2 great seasons out of them. Last year we had to replace 9 starters on defense, our defense sucked this year, and this year we are losing our entire secondary and our best LB. It's tough to keep great players rotating all the time. Have to give kudos to Alabama for being able to do it for the past 5 years+. Next year we lost: 6 Starters on defense, our kicker, 4 of our 5 starting O-Lineman, our best WR, our top two RB's and possibly Braxton. We are going to be in for a rough year next year.

It's all about money. Kirk Herbstreit talked about it last night, the game everyone wanted in the Sugar Bowl was Alabama vs Oregon, but Oklahoma was chosen because they are closer to the site and will pack the stadium and sell tickets for them more easily.

So there are four first and second team TE's and four first and second team WRs.
Makes sense.

Chase Abbington should definitely be used on defense, but I'm not sure that's what happens. Primary focus MUST be on improving the athleticism and speed at LB and S. They need to find a lot more guys in the Braylon Webb mold, and stay away from skinny Ss like Matt White, who can't tackle. I like the incoming back 7 group quite a bit. Brandon Lee Marvin Zanders (will play LB or S at Mizzou) Logan Cheedle (CB) Greg Taylor (CB-S ... could be the nickel hybrid) Tavon Ross (think he ends up at S or LB) Kenya Dennis (CB-S) What they lack in stars, they make up for in bodies they're throwing at the back 7. I also look at Roderick Winters, a 5-11/196 LB according to his profile, and wonder what the plan is there. Seems unlikely he could get to 235 without losing some significant speed. Maybe the goal for him is S? Either than or his Rivals profile is wrong about his height/weight.

Singleton got here late but was coming on until injuring his hip about a month ago. It took him a while to get back. Hopefully, he's ready to go by the bowl game.

If DGB could turn pro, do you think he would make the jump after this year?

LDW was our best WR this year, btw. He's a body catcher, though. That doesn't fly in the NFL. DGB needs to work on his focus next year, and he can be a top 5 pick.
