Its not madden where all these hypothetical dream scenarios happen. Mack, Oakland's best player and one of the best defensive players in the leagie was traded for a question marks. Stupid

So the silver lining to the trade of Mack is we have the potential to trade up for an unproven pass rusher? you stick with provens and not fairy tale scenarios.

Boom: Khalil Mack turns the Bears into a playoff team
Steve Rosenbloom Chicago Tribune The Bears just got a “best player.’’ Oh, they might’ve had one before, but it would be by default because even bad teams have a best player by process of elimination. But this is different. The Bears just acquired a “best player’’ at a position that matters – outside linebacker, which is code for pass rusher in a base 3-4 scheme – and what’s more, the Bears just acquired a player who’s regarded as not only one of the best at that game-changing spot, but also one of the best defensive players in the NFL, period, and bang, that’s how you prepare for the first game of the season by changing everything. That’s Khalil Mack. He changes games, and consequently changes entire divisions because from here it looks like Mack just turned the Bears into a playoff contender. The Bears have the lowest-ranked quarterback in the division, but they now have the scariest guy hunting down the three who stand ahead of Mitch Trubisky. Bless the dysfunctional Raiders of Jon Gruden. They refused to pay Mack what teams pay big-time pass rushers. And bless Bears GM Ryan Pace for seizing the opportunity. He has made a Hollywood move before, and so, I suspect there will be the feeling Pace overpaid for Mack the way he overpaid the 49ers in the trade for the right to draft Trubisky. But, the argument goes, if you’re going to overpay for players, then you do it for the two most important positions on the field -- quarterback is No. 1 and the guy who maims the quarterback is No. 2. Now, of course, the Bears have to pay Mack. I’d expect the Bears to produce an extension that makes him the highest-paid defensive player in the league. Start with Von Miller’s $70 million guaranteed and then imagine the climb. That’s the price of greatness. That’s what you do with your best player who just filled a big hole on a good defense that now has a chance to be great. The Bears desperately needed a pass rusher coming off the edge, and that was true even when Leonard Floyd was healthy. And because Floyd usually is not healthy, the Bears grew more desperate still. Mack fills that spot. Does he ever. He is a dominant player that Floyd can hope to grow up to be, and now the third-year outside linebacker out of Georgia gets a chance to see how that happens. Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio somehow alchemized 42 sacks out of some leaden player profiles last season, placing the Bears in the top 10 in that category, but they never had someone like Mack, someone with whom opponents start their game-planning every week. And that “every week’’ part is important because given the kind of spotless health Mack has had the last four seasons in which he has played every game, Fangio now has a comparative nuclear weapon every week. The Bears can say, “Heads up, Aaron Rodgers,’’ and mean it. Or maybe they’ll say, “Heads up, Danica Patrick’s boyfriend,’’ but the point is they have someone who can get to Rodgers in anger. And not just get to Rodgers in a game, but in the playoff race. I might be concussed and delirious from the Bears’ massive move, but this changes the way I view the division. It has long been past time for Pace’s roster to make the playoffs. Three last-place finishes – every year Pace has been here – is embarrassing, but Pace has refused to say the Bears should make the playoffs this season. Ditto, new coach Matt Nagy. But Mack just changed that. Even if Pace and Nagy won’t say it, the Bears should be expected to make the postseason now. Even if they’re clueless about how it works -- and the entire one-proud franchise known as the Bears appears to be -- then use Mack as the team GPS. srosenbloom@chicagotribune.com http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports...901-story.html |

If Mack was 10 years older, this trade never happens.
Chicago fans are going to eat this up if it goes through. As for Oakland, I suspect trouble in Convict City. Reggie has to be chewing the carpet over some of these decisions. FAX |

Reggie is probably on his way to the Chiefs front office.

The Raiders won six games with Khalil Mack last year iand the raiders are more talented than the Bears are... there's a very high probability that the Bears are going to probably be picking in the top 10 if not top 5... A team could easily move up from number 8 to number one giving up two first-round picks ...that isn't Madden talkin that is reality..

We have some young bucks on the line who will get pressure on the QB this year. 22 million a year will go a long way in signing future needs... As I said, I am good with it. Good with it as long as we don't draft like the Chiefs anyway |
