I would hope so.

I just can't even begin to wrap my mind over this stupid hire. He oversaw Dez Bryant have dicks for hands in 2017. Amazing coaching.

This move definitely reeks of a Scott pioli like conviction of being smarter than everyone else in the room. Big, big risk.

It sounds like this is a positive in the Lock camp due to his NFL experience and the changes he will bring to the offense.

Lock officially returning for Senior year.

http://www.kansascity.com/sports/col...193820519.html
Quote:
COLUMBIA
Drew Lock isn’t going anywhere.

Missouri’s junior quarterback announced on Tuesday that he will return for his senior season. Lock had considered forgoing his final year of eligibility to declare for the NFL Draft, but he decided to follow the draft advisory board’s advice to stay in school.

The board, which tends to offer conservative assessments, tells prospects to return to school if it does not believe they will be first- or second-round picks in the upcoming draft.

He entered the season off the radar of most NFL teams after mediocre seasons as a freshman and sophomore. But he thrived in former offensive coordinator Josh Heupel’s hybrid air raid-spread offense and led the nation with 44 touchdowns and in yards per completion. He set multiple school and conference records along the way. He was part of both the coaches’ and Associated Press’ all-SEC first teams.

Lock, from Lee’s Summit, said before the Texas Bowl that the draft advisory board wanted to see him make more intermediate throws. Heupel’s system doesn’t offer many opportunities for those.

Before deciding whether to go pro, Lock planned to see how the Tigers’ hired to replace Heupel, who left to become head coach at Central Florida.

The Tigers’ new offensive coordinator, Derek Dooley, runs a pro-style system and has experience coaching in the NFL. He was most recently the wide receivers coach for the Dallas Cowboys, and he was a tight ends coach for the Miami Dolphins. However, he has never been a quarterbacks coach or offensive coordinator.

“What could I necessarily squeeze out of him?” Lock said regarding how the offensive coordinator hire could affect his decision. “What could I learn from him, rather than jumping ahead, possibly missing the opportunity to learn from a great mind that may have been in the NFL, may have coached really good NFL quarterbacks?”

When he committed to Missouri, Lock was the most heralded in-state quarterback to commit to the program since Blaine Gabbert. He had the arm, the charm, the hair and national accolades at the high school level. Lock was thrust into the starting quarterback spot as a true freshman after incumbent starter Maty Mauk was suspended and later dismissed for disciplinary reasons.

Lock showed flashes of being an all-conference quarterback, but he struggled to be consistent. Though it has improved each year, he still struggles with his completion percentage, which was a career-best 57.8 percent this season.

He emerged as a star during Missouri’s six-game win streak to end the regular season and attracted scouts’ attention for his size and arm strength. Toward the end of the regular season, murmurs that Lock could sneak into the first round began to come from by prominent NFL reporters such as ESPN’s Chris Mortensen.

Instead, Lock will return to a Missouri offense that loses just two key contributors from a season ago: wide receiver J’Mon Moore and running back Ish Witter, who led the team in receiving and rushing yards, respectively. The Tigers’ entire starting offensive line, one of the best in the country for a second consecutive season, returns. So does running back Damarea Crockett, who ran for more than 1,000 yards as a freshman but missed the final seven games of his sophomore year because of a shoulder injury.

With Lock under center next season, Missouri is a legitimate contender for the SEC Eastern Division title, and he has a chance to become Mizzou’s first Heisman Trophy winner in school history.

Missouri could still add a quarterback to its 2018 class. National Signing Day is on Feb. 5

They got Lindsey Scott from EMCC - the JUCO QB. From what I can tell, he's a shorter pro-style guy. Not really an athlete/runner despite his stature.

Has a quick release and is fairly accurate. Nice insurance for Lock and the likely starter in 2019.

Optimism on both sides. Ronnie Perkins is in his head about Ou, but not-Mizzou St. Louis folks also think it's Mizzou.

They have some work to do but still are in good shape.

What's your take on MU's chances of finishing behind Georgia in the SEC East. I ask because I was listening to the afternoon sports program locally when they were chatting about what they see happening in the SEC East this coming year.

What was interesting was that everyone pretty much thinks GA will be hard to beat, but that South Carolina and Florida are next in line. One of the commentators pretty much said MU was a probable win for Florida.

I found it a bit silly to think that Dan Mullen will turn FL around that quickly, although I think he will make them good again eventually....but not this year.

I think South Carolina is good, but isn't much beyond the QB and Deebo Samuel. I know Vandy and TN are probably going to suffer another year.

With MU returning most of it's offense and some key pieces on Defense, I think they have a decent chance of surprising some.

Your thoughts?

I think they've got a shot to win 9, really need the D to step forward. Beckner and Jordan Elliott and Antar Thompson should be a really good interior trio. Nice depth at DT, but need playmakers in the back 7.

Heisman Trophy odds are out:

https://www.sportsline.com/insiders/...eisman-winner/

Although we put the college football season in the rearview a few weeks ago, some sportsbooks already are giving customers an opportunity to think about next season.

Sportsbook Bovada already has released odds for next season's Heisman Trophy, the sport's ultimate individual honor.

With odds of 10/1, Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield took home the hardware this season. He overcame early front-runner Saquon Barkley of Penn State, who failed to become a finalist, and outlasted reigning winner Lamar Jackson, who finished third.

In the new wagering menu, Ohio State running back J.K. Dobbins quickly moved from 12/1 to 6/1. He shares co-favorite honors with Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor.

Based on the current odds, here are my early leans on potential value wagers for next year's Heisman:

Bryce Love (RB Stanford), 7/1: The explosive running back finished second behind Mayfield despite missing one full game and parts of others with injuries. He rushed for 2,118 yards and 19 touchdowns while averaging 8.1 yards per carry. His runner-up finish also somewhat dispels the notion of bias against a West Coast-based player because of the limited exposure he receives on a national level due to late kick-off times.

Jarrett Stidham (QB Auburn), 16/1: Stidham was a popular darkhorse pick last year, closing at odds of about 10/1 after opening at 50/1. Unfortunately, the Baylor transfer and the Auburn offense were slow to get going. But they picked it up by season's end, in part because of a change in game plan that emphasized the quarterback's skills as a pocket passer. He threw for 3,158 yards with 18 TDs against six picks with a 66.5 completion percentage. He also ran for 153 yards and four scores.

Trace McSorley (QB Penn State), 20/1: For the past two seasons, McSorley has been overshadowed by his own teammate, Barkley, who is sure ot be a high NFL draft pick. With Barkley out of the mix, the spotlight should shift to McSorley, who has emerged as a dynamite dual-threat and clutch performer. He finished with 3,570 yards and 28 touchdowns against 10 interceptions. McSorley rushed for 491 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Here is at look at Bovada's betting odds for the Heisman:

J.K. Dobbins (RB Ohio State), 6/1

Jonathan Taylor (RB Wisconsin), 6/1

Bryce Love (RB Stanford), 7/1

Tua Tagovailoa (QB Alabama), 7/1

Jake Fromm (QB Georgia), 12/1

Khalil Tate (QB Arizona), 14/1

Will Grier (QB West Virginia), 16/1

Jarrett Stidham (QB Auburn), 16/1

Kelly Bryant (QB Clemson), 18/1

Justin Herbert (QB Oregon), 18/1

Trace McSorley (QB Penn State), 20/1

Cam Akers (RB Florida State), 25/1

Rodney Anderson (RB Oklahoma), 25/1

Jake Browning (QB Washington), 25/1

Ryan Finley (QB NC State), 25/1

Drew Lock (QB Missouri), 25/1

McKenzie Milton (QB UCF), 25/1

Travis Etienne (RB Clemson), 35/1

Nick Fitzgerald (QB Mississippi State), 35/1

D'Andre Swift (RB Georgia), 35/1

Brandon Winbush (QB Notre Dame), 35/1

David Sills (WR West Virginia), 45/1

Ed Oliver (DL Houston), 66/1

Nick Bosa (DL Ohio State), 75/1
