Columbus Sailor Football...

Tonight was our season opener. This year's varsity team is the same team that went undefeated (9-0) two years ago as Fresh/Sophs. Everything has been leading up to this season. Working out all year long, two-a-days in the summer, camps, and long, tiring practices everyday after school.

We are extremely athletic team, but not real big. Actually, I'm the biggest guy on the team. We do have technique, and we do have a lot of heart. This year, we moved down from 3A to 2A. We also got new, and cooler uniforms too.

So tonight's matchup was against Olewein, a much bigger 3A team.

And we smoked them. 56-13. It was one of the best games I've ever seen. We were sound all the way through our starting seniors to some backup freshman that even played. I'm absolutely confident we are the best 2A team in the state and will go undefeated again, but I'm really not supposed to say that.

Oh well. We rule.

Yeah, maybe... but you'll never get the respect you deserve as long as the PA announcer keeps playing "In the Navy" when you run onto the field...

Yeah, there's not a lot of huge fans of the name "sailors". But Columbus an everything. I don't mind it.

Well, just a little update. If any of you Iowanians have been following high school football closely, you'd know that my Columbus Sailors are ranked #8 in the state in 2A. It's cool, but it's nothing to where we're going to be a the end of the year - 1st.

Also, our quarterback, was named Courier Prep of the Week, so if anyone reads the courier sports, that's my QB and friend on the front page.

I've got kin from Olewein, and have always followed their teams.
They must really suck this year.

Have any of you guys been on a sail boat? I've been on a little one, a two person sail boat. And lemme tell you, it's a frigging fun. I'm gonna buy one someday.

Thank you. Jarheads was actually the 2nd choice for team name though.

Going into this game, we were ranked 5th in the state. Tonight we played North Fayette. Ranked 4th.

In the first 7 minutes, they scored 21 points. I was sick and frustrated. By halftime, we had narrowed the score down to 28-20 I think.

In the second half, it went back and forth. We couldn't stop their run until the last two drives, but by then it was too late. With 45 seconds left, we were not able to drive the ball down the field much, and we lost a heartbreaker 49-41.

Vince Lombardi used to say that his Packers never lost a game, time would just run out on them. That's how I feel tonight. This really hurts, especially because of how hard we fought back.

Well, you really do you're research.

He's a good coach, but we never made the necessary adjustments to stop their running game, and this Moser back who's a sophmore.

I mean, they literally ran probably 5 plays all game.
