I was sitting in the stands on the lower level. There was absolutely a vocal minority who cheered when it was apparent Cassel was down for the count. I actually remarked to my 10 year old that it wasn't right for some fans to cheer his injury to make a point to him. Were they cheering because he was hurt, or because it meant he'd be on the bench? I'm guessing the latter, but regardless it was bad form.
Charles had busted a nice run, and fans were cheering that play, as the video displayed. There was a delayed reaction to Cassel, as he was way behind the play and initially, he started to raise up as if he was going to drag himself to his feet. As he went back down and people brought their attention from Charles to Cassel, there was additional cheering. There's no doubt that happened. There is a cut in the video that excludes it. The vast majority of fans applauded when he was able to get to his feet and walk to the sidelines. IMO, Winston went overboard. He shouldn't have called out all fans, even if he tried to correct himself later in the rant. That said, I understand why he was fired up about it. |

Yep. It is so weird to me that some are trying to spin this otherwise. There was absolutely a noticeable applause when Cassel couldn't get up. |

No, I'm saying he could fall into the group of people who didn't realize why people were cheering when they were. I was about 20 rows up in the lower level and people all around me were cheering because Cassel was down. Again, I don't blame them, but it definitely happened. And this would be a story no matter what stadium it happened in.

Pass complete to Charles, fans start cheering and cheer when first down is announced. People get up, and Cassel doesn't. Winston and others motion for trainers. Crowd cheers very loudly. It takes a couple minutes and the cheering dies down. Quinn enters as Cassel is walking off and there is a lot of cheering. |

That's how it was rolling in my section. Winston makes it sound like their was an uproar of applause over Cassel going down, and THAT was just not the case. There may have well been a small contingent of fans cheering Matt 's injury, but come on, that's not representative of the entire Stadium of fans - that's purely bullshit.

This is crazy how in the same week the fans attempt to attack the organization, the organization is then attacking the fan base, and now all of the attention is directed at us.
And if Scott truly wanted to get on the good side of Chiefs fans, he'd come out and release a statement that downplays what Winston said. Instead Pioli is a little rat that will hide when things aren't going well, and he doesn't want to stick up for the fan base anyways. |

I've been following Nick Wright on twitter all morning. He thinks what Winston said was wrong. and he made a couple of very good points earlier.
It's not like the fans KNEW Cassel was down due to a concussion. We just saw him laying there, and knew that would be the only way we would make a switch because at that point we were forced to make the switch. Chiefs fans were applauding the potential end of the Cassel era. Not the fact that he was physically injured. Fans would have applauded louder if the switch had come in a completely healthy fashion. Instead, it had to come this way. Look at the situation first. |
