Meh - Sutton.
Mediocre at best in NYJ when he was the DC, no better when he was the LB coach and a clear 3-4 candidate. I was really hoping for a 4-3 guy with an actual track record of sustained success. Dutton's just a bleh coach that's not really Sutton doesn't appear likely to bring anything to the table. He may not take anything off it (hard to say), but he sure doesn't look like a guy that's going to give you anything more than you already have. He's essentially the DC version of a game managing QB.

Kinda feel like I did when Vermiel named Robinson DC in 2001. Like - is HE really the best we can do. Obviously, I hope I'm wrong. |

I was expecting more established coordinators, but as others have said, I will reserve judgement until we see them on the field. Sutton looks like a proper, nice guy...hopefully he coaches with some fire as I prefer seeing that in a defensive coordinator.

Being an old army guy he's going to bring some ****ing discipline to the defense, and they desperately need it. As long as he can scheme, we should be in real good shape. That's the real unknown here.

Good point. Being an Army guy, you would think discipline is a big part of his teaching. Aggressive and disciplined sounds pretty good to me.

I'm kind of glad Reid isn't just getting the band back together. Sometimes, in fact most of the time, having an all star staff, doesn't work.
