Jake Long to the Rams
Looks like Long signed with the Rams according to ESPN 101 out of St. Louis. I'll get a link when one pops up.

This sets the market for Albert, does it not?
4 years, $36m. That's four years at $9m a pop. How much you want to bet that's far closer to what the Chiefs offered than what Albert wanted. This has got to bring Albert down. If it does, we've got a chance to have him locked up and put the Luke Joeckel bullshit to rest. |

Offer Albert 5/40 and see if he bites. extra year in exchange for the lower AAV. And that's probably still better than he'd do in FA by a long shot.
Afterall, he still needs to worry about the tag getting pulled if we end up drafting joeckel. If that happens, he's pretty boned.

Most teams will have used up their available cap space. I don't many teams with significant needs at lt are keeping an abundance of cap space available, plus leaving the roster spot open, on the chance that Albert gets released.
Boned is strong, but he won't get 8 million in AAV, imo, not after teams that needed a tackle had the draft to acquire one. His leverage diminishes in a hurry at that point.

Rams let him leave yet still got it done -that- is a tough deal to get done, once someone has left your premises in a high stakes environment, all bets are off... gotta give something up hoping to get them back.
If Fisher doesn't get with the future program, that team wont care in the long run, they will just get tired of being fed another boring offense that doesn't inspire nor ignite them... hate to say it, but Fisher is going to to Kick Ass his way to 9-7... the man flat refuses to invest in the modern pass game, just look at what he's sticking Bradford with. The rams need to spend, or keep being the flyover leftover, just like KC has been... belly up to the money or get drunk and get out. |
