If Smith was Reid's guy, Dorsey has done a good job

Let me first say this. I think the Chiefs are on the wrong path. But I think it's because of Reid and Smith, and I still think Dorsey is forced to work around Smith. But outside of that... I don't get the obsession with OL / WR depth. It ignores the fact that we had a shitload of holes in 2012 - we needed starters in key positions and had horrendous depth at EVERY position. We are now 1-2 players away from an excellent AND deep defense. Our offense improved dramatically at TE and RB. So yeah, OL and WR are still left to go. But it ignores improvements made elsewhere.
  • #2 RB, FB -- solved VERY well. Knile, Sherman, McKnight
  • Moeaki +... horrible to Kelce/Fasano/Harris/McGrath (couldn't anticipate the Harris / McGrath shit)
  • CBs -- solved extremely well. Flowers/Routt/Arenas to Sean Smith/Gaines/Owens/Fleming. We have several guys who can legitimately play at #2. We can actually play nickel / dime
  • Safety depth -- solved decently well. We went from Berry + shit to Berry + 2 legit Safety options (Parker, Abdullah)
  • Kicker -- we'll see. Looks to have improved.
  • DE depth -- Pitoutua was okay depth. Jackson was a middling starter. Dorsey was misplaced. Devito + Bailey with Howard, Vickerson, Catapano as depth would have been a solid rotation
We also added 4 comp picks for next year.

Needs that stayed the same:
OLB: Though Zombo is better than Studebaker, and Ford... we'll see.
NT depth (not addressed)

Regressed / did not address:
RG (did nothing)
WR depth - DAT and Avant are upgrades. But need significant improvement still
LT - went from solid to bad (so far)
ILB depth - Improved. Mauga, JMJ, Mays are better than Belcher, Siler, Greenwood. But needs improvement

It isn't. People keep talking about OL/WR. They forget that the only good backup on the ENTIRE TEAM was Pitoutua at DE. We had 2 good players in the secondary (Flowers, Berry) + an epically terrible pile of shit at the other 3 to 4 spots. And even worse WRs than we have now.

I'm with everyone on the "shit can Reid + Smith" bandwagon. But those who bitch about the job Dorsey has done forget the shit pile he inherited.

I don't think anybody is calling for Dorsey's head. It's mostly Reid and Smith.

Your subject and post have nothing in common. You arbitrarily used 'Moeaki' instead of the position. Are you drunk? /DeBerg rule

Check out everyone's blame list. Dorsey, ol, wr are above smith in people to blame on almost every list.

Spin it anyway you want.

Not addressing WR in the deepest WR class, maybe ever, is not a good job.

We have nothing at tackle or guard, no ILBs, and we're pinning our WR hopes on two guys who had less than 300 yards this year.

GREAT JOB DORSEY

I don't know why Chiefs fans think our roster is all that great, since it's not. I watch all the games and if you swapped jerseys, I would have a hard time telling many of these teams apart. We have 1 primary weapon nobody else has which is Charles. We have a sack artist (who rarely forces turnovers). Other than that, this roster is pretty average across the board and atrocious on the OL.

But ended up going from rags to riches in the secondary, dline, rb, te. Not just starters. Very good depth too.

I'm not a fan of the first round picks. But we took a shit roster and turned it into a team I believe a reasonably good qb and good coach could turn into a legit playoff contender. That isn't bad in year 2. And again... If your directive is to build around Alex smith, how much is a receiver going to help you anyway?

Reid is a good coach though. Can't make his qb hit open players
