That was painful.

Why did the Chiefs allow him to do that segment?

Hey even a good game manager is an upgrade over Cassel! We made the Playoffs the year Weis made Cassel a serviceable game manager.

DJ said what everyone except Andy Reid and Alex Smith knows ... Smith is nothing more than a game manager. Maybe it's an "emperor's new clothes" sort ofthing. The players are trying to tell Andy to take off his man-love glasses for Smith. This was the same pair worn by Pioli when he looked at Cassel.

Andy had the temerity to say earlier that he was taking Smith to the Hall of Fame. DJ is basically telling him that the only way Smith gets in is if he buys a ticket.

Andy can love A Smith all he wants but come draft day Dorsey will be making the final decision and he will rightfully select the Choco thunder of Geno Smith and he will whoop some candy ass for years too come. Sorry Alex. Its time for Generation Geno.

I don't think we've seen any proof that Andy Reid or Dorsey are married to Alex Smith as a long-term answer, other than praising him in the media. What do you expect them to say? For all we know, this is a stopgap for a team with a clear directive from Clark Hunt to fill seats ASAP by winning games.

Dorsey had an interview several months ago. He basically implied that Alex Smith was a game manager (good with short stuff, good enough on the intermediate, not necessarily a deep ball guy). I don't think any of these guys are dense enough to not see Alex Smith's limitations, and these guys aren't so stubborn that they'll refuse to bring in competitive options.

To be fair, those two games for Alex Smith vs the Chiefs were week 4 in 2006 when the Cheifs won 41-0, and week 3 of 2010 when the Chiefs won 31-10.

That was Reid/Dorsey's way of priming the fan base not to expect too much the first year But as SDW said at least DJ was being very candid/truthful.

No QB is asked to "manage games" in an Andy Reid offense. We'll find out if he sinks or swims soon enough. One thing's for sure...RRPP is dead in KC.
