Not to divulge too much of my personal information, but my mother has been having issues with drug abuse, which has led to a multitude of legal issues and run-ins with the law (she was actually just released from prison after doing 2 and 1/2 years). I can say from personal experience that a person can only take so much hurt before they start distancing themselves emotionally.

With that said, if this situation were my mother I'd probably be swimming in the river looking for her; but I can see why Ed might not let it distract him from what he needs/wants to do.

Yeah. I hope they find him safe too. On a serious note I wouldn't wish this shit on anybody, not even my worst enemy. Reeds brother may be a total reject, but the family still suffers when something like this goes down.
