The much-discussed potential trade of Branden Albert from the Chiefs to the Dolphins doesn’t appear likely at the price Albert is currently seeking.

Although the Chiefs and Dolphins can probably agree on compensation — the Dolphins sending a second-round pick to Kansas City — the hangup is that Albert wants the kind of money that the Dolphins aren’t willing to spend. Specifically, according to Jason Cole of Yahoo! Sports, Albert wants between $8 million and $9 million a year on a long-term deal.

In other words, Albert is looking for the same kind of contract that left tackle Jake Long got from the Rams — the very contract the Dolphins wouldn’t give Long, which is why he left Miami for St. Louis.

If the Dolphins weren’t willing to pay Long that kind of money, it’s hard to see why they’d be willing to give up a second-round draft pick for the privilege of paying Albert that kind of money. So the Dolphins may need to look elsewhere for a left tackle. And Albert may have to settle for playing this season for the Chiefs, making $9.8 million, and hitting free agency next year.

Given that, is it really a surprise he hired two guys who have made the moves they have until this point?

Incompetent people make incompetent decisions.

I think this criticism is completely unfair. Hunt went out and hired guys that were sought after. I really don't understand ripping him anymore.

The New York Giants wanted to hire Pioli in 2007, but he decided to stay with New England.

So are we going to criticize their decision too? That was his job if he wanted it back in 07 when Accorsi was let go.

IIRC, there's only 1 NFL franchise that has won fewer games than Kansas City in the past 6 seasons.

And after this season, we'll be looking at 20 years without a playoff win.

He gave up one sack, and was top 10 in PBE two years in a row.

He was a poor fit for a zone scheme.

Derrick Johnson was a poor fit in a 4-3 defense. We should totally have just based every opinion on his first 4 years in the league.

They're one of the five-eight worst franchises in sports, and it's not all that arguable.

The only franchise that you can say is definitively worse than the Chiefs is the Browns. An argument exists for the Jaguars and Lions, but the Lions have built that team fairly well, save for a stooge at HC. The Jaguars had, until the last five years, sustained winning.

In MLB, you could make an argument that the Cubs are worse. The Royals and Pirates have been more futile, but they also operate within an unfair system. The Cubs also have multiple playoff appearances in a sport where it is harder to get into the post-season.

The Clippers no longer apply in the NBA. The Kings are a possibility, but even they had some great teams earlier in the decade.

I am completely ignorant regarding the NHL, so I defer.
