Would you trade this last SB for the one versus Tampa?

Had this discussion recently with a friend.

I'd rather have back-to-back SB wins. That's more rare. Also, one less Super Bowl for Brady.

The biggest negative would be the loss to Cincinnati in 2021 would sting even more, since we'd be effectively squandering three consecutive SB wins.

Without playing butterfly effect, I'm leaning towards yes.

They were 14-1 in Mahomes' starts, destroyed the Bills in the AFCCG, playing Brady in Tampa with a chance at B2B and avenge the AFCCG loss... it was a pretty big letdown losing that game, to say the least.

And all things the same, I feel this postseason would have been far more "feel good" given the lower expectations and Mahomes' injury.... that Bengals game in effect becomes their SB because that's enemy #1, they weren't supposed to make it back, etc... and then tip your cap to the Eagles because it's really damn hard to win the SB 3 times in 4 years.

There ended up being a lot more pressure to win it this year than I imagined at the beginning of the year or even the beginning of the playoffs... and even given Mahomes' injury.

The flip side is 2020 was more so "we're really ****ing good and we're going to win this thing again", where as this season was a monumental team effort that was really special to watch.

I will have to say no. As mentioned earlier, Reid stuck it to his old team. And we'll have b2b after this year. (Brady be damned)

As things stand, the narrative is that we're a juggernaut dynasty still piling stones onto the Great Pyramid of Kansas City.
We also did it with a slew of rookies on the defense, at RB, and WR and no Tyreek Hill. This one was special and we capped it off with a win against what is likely the most talented team in the NFL.

It would make living in the Tampa Bay area a bit easier.

Yes. The final gauge of whether Mahomes goes down as the GOAT or not is Brady and his 7 rings. Had KC beaten Tampa Mahomes would be four from tying vs five.

No.

We're only going to have to wait 8 more months for back-to-back SB wins, and this time it will be on the Raiders' home field.

At first I was an obvious YES because - as mentioned - it's Tom ****ing Brady, and being able to dim his legacy while elevating Mahomes is nearly as sweet as it gets.

But thinking about it a little bit more, that 2020 season felt so weird due to Covid. Nothing in life at that point seemed the same and I don't think back-to-back SB wins - even if against Brady - would've been nearly as sweet as it was to complete the gauntlet we did this season, culminating in an amazing game against the Eagles.

I'm pretty happy with how things worked out, but damn, it still would've been nice to topple Brady...

I also, at first, thought "F Brady".........but then again, MANY people saw through the ref nonsense in that game and how the trophy was gifted to Tom.

Also - losing to another young QB in the super bowl could start a different narrative that Mahomes isnt the top of the QB list currently.

So yeah, leave it be.

It just bums me out thinking that in 2018 if we beat the Patriots in the AFC Championship game with Mahomes first year as a starter. Then if we beat the Bengals and didn't flake the game away trying to play safe. You're so damn close to 5 Super Bowls in his first 5 years as a starter in this league. Just unheard of, ridiculous shit.

Yeah, looking back at those few years... they got their SB, they dominated the 2020 season, they were clearly up against the refs and offensive line issues in the SB. There wasn't so much pressure to win as there was an expectation.

And then look at this season and last, and there's definitely mounting pressure with the Bengals bullshit and AFCCG loss and then losing Tyreek, etc. There were low expectations, even if pressure was building some.

And from that perspective, low expectation years and over delivering are always better, IMO.

The 90's Cowboys are a dynasty. Who says otherwise?

You're right that we'd currently be a laughing stock but that's no different than the last two seasons prior. In today's social media era, you either win the SB or critics shit on you.
