Call of Duty will go head-to-head with Battlefield 3 in 2011.

The third game in the series, which will be shown to press during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco next month, is set for release this coming fall, Electronic Arts confirmed.

The publisher revealed the first teaser trailer for the game on its official website tonight. The trailer, which contains no actual gameplay, displays quick cuts of helicopters, ground troops, tanks and fighter jets.

Additional details courtesy of the official Battlefield Blog confirm a full single-player and co-op campaign, jets, prone, and 64-player multiplayer for the PC version. The Frostbite 2 engine will power the game and a Limited Edition will be revealed around GDC.

Developer DICE confirmed earlier this morning it was canceling the release of Battlefield 1943 and the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Onslaught pack for PC.

wow, I haven't seen or noticed any lag yet in BF3.

but, playing with randoms who don't talk or try to win kind irritate me. But that's the only negative I'm noticing right now. It's gonna take some getting used to playing without constant lag, but all that lag in COD will probably make me a way better play in other shooters.

It probably will. I've had some lag in BF3 though. Word of advice. Don't go into dark places.

I'm loving this game so far. I'm going positive in TDM every time and it's the first time for me playing. I swear dealing with the lag handicap in COD has made a much better player at shooters.

It's so strange shooting people and they are dying! But that's some that I can get used to!

The maps are so good too. This game tops MW3 in just about every single way. My only complaint so far is that nobody talks, I haven't heard one person speak a word so far.

Had a great team last night. We went on a tear and won like 15 games in a row. I think I played from about 7:00 to 10:00 without losing one game. It was great. I suppose if you get in a platoon this probably happens more often then naught. Is there someplace they look for players in a platoon?

Of course it also helps with all the noobs from Christmas.

Had a few good games this weekend.
MASSIVE influx of new players though. Good and bad; the Good is, they didn't know what they were really doing so I got some cheap kills. The Bad is, they didn't know what they were doing. It was obvious they were all about the k/d. Had zero clue how to play Rush or CQ. Guys would run right by and empty/unoccupied objective. Or, I'm laying down after being shot (that sort of 'last stand' mode) and my assault guy runs right past me w/out dropping a med kit. wtf.

and, all the new players would simply sit at the delpoyment site and wait for aircraft to spawn. Thus, leaving you to play the mode with only like 4 players.

my 15 y/o newphew played on my cosole yesterday. He's a MW/BO player. He promptly went 5/31 lol. Didn't like that there weren't kill streaks. ran around the ENTIRE time. Don't think he walked or took cover once.

Oh well. Hopefully they get frustrated, or think it sucks and trade in their game.
