Day 2 of being really good on my diet. And if I continue making dinners like tonight, it'll be easy. Sous Vide Salmon and steamed peas. Holy crap, the salmon was the best I've ever had and it was only seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic and a bit of extra virgin olive oil.

I am going to attempt to get up an hour earlier every morning this week to jog at 6am rather than waiting until 6pm. I'm really not an early morning person, so please wish me luck.

I was in bed and asleep by 11pm last night, but kept having bad dreams. I didn't make my 6am jog, but I will try again tomorrow! I'll still get today's jog in this evening.

I'm going to jump in and share my story. The wife and I have been doing the low fat, low cholesterol, high exercise thing since Jan 3rd and I've lost 20lbs since then. I was feeling OK but hit a wall and was stuck at 214 for 6 weeks.
I went for my annual physical the last week of April and my blood pressure was the highest it's ever been and my cholesterol jumped 25 points over the previous year. My doc has his nutritionist call me and we walked through what I was doing and she told me to try going the paleo route. I always thought that the low carb Nazis were fad dieters that were losing weight but not healthy. So over the last 2 weeks I've eliminated carbs except for the occasional piece of fruit. I'm basically in a high fat, high saturated fat, high cholesterol diet now. This has lead to my blood pressure normalizing within two weeks (I tracked it every day) and I've busted through the 214lbs wall and dropped 6lbs. I feel spectacular. I've had more energy than I can remember having and I seem to be more focused at work (minus the time spent typing this). The first couple of days were rough but she told me I had to switch from burning carbs for fuel to burning fat, which comes with headaches to tiredness initially. I go back for a retest of my blood in 3 months. The nutritionist thinks that my cholesterol will go down and it's the one area I'm concerned about. We'll see what happens there. |

Yup. Fat gets an unfair, unwarranted bad wrap. Its the sugar that is worse for you.
