They are just getting curb stomped right now 3rd time through a lineup. I think they said last night that teams are hitting Vargas at a .600 clip the third time through.
He's lost a few gambles with proven starters early on, but I can't condemn him for the bad without giving credit for the good. Ned's strength is his establishment of clear roles in the bullpen. Generally trying to give relievers "one clean inning" to own and put away. It works for this group, and elevates them to perform better than I believe they would elsewhere.

Well, with Duffy, Volquez and Vargas set to face Detroit, he better be on his game cause he can't afford to make the mistakes he has made with Vargas and Guthrie as of late.

That's fair to think that way, but MLB has a publicly-stated goal to reduce game times and research shows the sport is getting crushed among the Milennials (future customers) who consistently cite slow pace and long game times as a problem.

I love baseball and study it constantly - and even I have to DVR all these games because I can't bear to watch pitching changes or conference on the mound or throws over to 1B etc. If MLB wants to speed the game, pitching changes are the easiest time saver. 1 change per inning. Use it wisely, Francona

Chris Young will start Friday. Volquez probably gets the ball Saturday with an extra day of rest. Same for Vargas/Sunday, though I'd be tempted to start Guthrie on his normal turn since the Tigers are so RH-dominant.

That was what I was thinking which is why it seemed weird for him to say it would be Duffy/Vargas/Volquez.

I'm guessing he forgot the suspension.

All three will still pitch. It's a four game series so Young will start between Duffy and Volquez.

Ventura should have a chance a reducing his suspension through the appeal.

It looks like FSKC ran into some technical problems as Morales was running the bases. Even the highlight on mlb.com shows it through Indians broadcast.
