Does Charles and Bowe and other Chief players seeking Peyton's autograph bother you?

http://deadspin.com/5963465/jamaal-c...ium=socialflow

Jamaal Charles Waited Around for Peyton Manning’s Autograph After Losing To Peyton Manning

Sean Newell

According to Neal Jones of KCTV-5, Dwayne Bowe also got in on the action and posed for some pictures with Manning following Kansas City's 17-9 loss to the Broncos. And he actually made some sense. When cameras caught the two Chiefs stars milling around for Manning, it was a goofy bit of video—which you can see below. While Jamaal Charles was clearly embarrassed and tried to play it off like his mom wanted the autograph, Bowe leveled with us.
Bowe: "It's a legend, I guess. It's Peyton Manning. Who wouldn't want a picture with him? If you had an opportunity, would you take it?"
Reporter: "Yeah, I'd like him to throw me passes, too."
Bowe: "That too but right now the best thing I have is a picture so I'll live with that."
Yes, autographs and the like are weird, and adults asking for them are even weirder, but there is something that makes sense when it's one colleague acknowledging and appreciating the skill of another.
KCTV 5 Or you could get angry because these guys aren't suicidal after a loss.

That's true. But it's also an indictment on the competitive nature of this team - or lack thereof. I don't think any true legend would do something like this outside of a pro-bowl or some other non-competitive NFL event in which they weren't involved. Twenty minutes after you just got toyed with in your own house? I have a problem with that. I'm all for shaking hands and showing your opponents respect, maybe even bowing down for a prayer post-game if that's your thing. But seeking autographs on-camera outside the locker-room? Chasing him down and waiting like you're a fan-boi? Nah. Maybe if it was to auction off for charity. I've stood 2 feet from Peyton Manning and Michael Strahan in a penthouse suite moments after they were awarded Offensive and Defensive MVP and never bugged them for an autograph or giggled like a schoolyard girl. Just shot the shit and talked like men.

Jamaal Charles and D'Wayne Bowe are supposed to be leaders of this team. What kind of message do you think it sends to the other 51 guys when they're gushing all over the man that just lead the other team to a victory? I've never pined for Todd Haley more. He would have bitten the ears off of Manning's giant noggin before he allowed this horseshit to go down on camera.

Congrats!

I think players asking other players for an autograph is a common occurrence in all sports. Bowe and Charles were probably in middle school when Peyton was starting his pro career and they are just fans like everyone else. Believe it or not they are real people too.

HOw sad is it that it is shit like this that fans actually get upset about. Who cares if they want an autograph from a legend.

I agree, In college we would go to parties after the game and party with opposing players all the time. It's just a ****ing game. Fans take the game way more serious than players. There is not one player on the Chiefs that hates Manning as much as you people in this forum. Players don't think that way and they shouldn't.

Manning would not have signed for any of the Chiefs if the Chiefs had won.

Betcha.

Dude it's Peyton Manning. You don't think NBA players asked Michael Jordan for autographs? I guarantee you that Brandon Flowers has asked Champ Bailey for an autograph before.

I don't care if they want an autograph. My sole objection is that I want the players on my favorite team to be at least as passionate about their team as I am. By all means, get an autograph. Get 100 autographs. But don't camp out waiting for the guy to emerge from the locker room after he just whooped you on your own turf. I don't even want to hear crap about "it was only 8 points" either.

It wasn't all that long ago that little-known, mediocre talent George Teague tackled T.O. at mid-field in Texas stadium when TO was a Niner and twice defiled the Cowboys' logo in post-TD celebrations. If this team had more George Teagues and less D'Wayne Bowes, it would be in a whole lot better shape than 1-10.

The autograph hounds thing seems so, so minute in the grand scheme of things but it's so big when you think about just how much this locker room sucks and their will to win is absolutely gone. I pay $10-25 to play softball tournaments on weekends and I'm more angry about losing stupid old man softball games than these jokers are about losing a football game for which they're compensated hundreds of thousands of dollars and all the strange vagina they can possibly use. While I'm well-aware that comparing beer-sofftball to professional football is stupid, the point stands.

It's pathetic. I know it's a business and there's a lot of money involved. I'm okay with that. I don't expect any Chiefs player to cut themselves after a tough loss. But I do expect our stars to WANT to win. I want them to be pissed off when they lose. I want there to be enough peer pressure in that locker room that players who screw up feel ashamed and have some accountability when they walk out of that stadium in their $2,000 suits and hop into their cars that cost more than my house. Buck up men. If you have nothing left at all, play for pride.

Wow. They wanted his autograph. Peyton was in KC. Peyton has never been in KC since these guys have been Chiefs.

Much ado about nothing.
