Madden '17

Anyone getting a little excited? Seems like they have really made an effort this year.

Franchise mode is getting an overhaul according to recent news:

1. Full player editing while your franchise is progressing.

2. Coaching/FO decisions.

3. In-game ticker with live updates.

4. Practice squads.

5. New commentary team that will actually talk about things happening in your franchise.

6. Draft has been tweaked with more busts/gems.

Gameplay improvements:

1. Zone Coverage overhaul.

2. New ball-carrier special moves.

3. Real gap control on defense.

4. Real ball physics. In the past the ball would tether to a player based on ratings.

They also overhauled kicking to make it a challenge now. There's a new three-click system and weather/location will play a factor. Also, apparently on clutch kicks if the opponent "freezes" the kicker by calling a timeout the kicking meter will disappear and you have to make the kick by muscle memory. Kicks and punts can also be blocked.

How badly all of this shit is ****ed up on release remains to be seen but it does seem like they are making a big effort.

Biggest studs in the draft:

OLB Marion Fort 6-5 256 HOLY SHIT

CB Leo Pugh 6-4 206

QB Cam Wolff 6-4 233

WR Oristes Griffith 6-4 223 (this guy is going to be a problem)

I may regret not taking that QB.

****ing chickenshit GM.

The guy's sitting there 4 spots in front of Dorsey's pick but leave it to this predictably gutless franchise to sit back with its fingers crossed instead of move up for the franchise quarterback it clearly needs.

(Seriously, you'd have demanded that Dorsey be run out on a rail had a QB like that fallen into the teens and gotten up within easy trade up range. And yes, if those ratings are comparable to previous years Madden ratings, you definitely ****ed up. You don't see a lot of QBs with 70/70 speed/acceleration legs and plus deep balls)

It's the same as it always is in Madden. Old vets with higher overalls can be traded for lower overall rookies. That and I included picks.

I got my QB, man. And he's much faster.

We'll see how history plays out with the Cam Wolff vs Robby Chase argument.

You can't blame me for passing on a QB the Browns took, though.

Oh man, Wolff has the clutch trait, too. That means his THA goes up and his OL gets a huge ratings boost in the 4th.

Robby has the "throw away" trait and is "conservative forcing passes."

****. I drafted Alex Smith with a big arm.

Oh you can say that all you want, but you know that when the lights go out and you're all by your lonesome, in the back of your mind you can't escape the fact that no matter how well you develop Chase, Wolff would've been even better.

Wolff may fail because he's in a dysfunctional organization. And Chase may be developed by a good organization into a passable QB. But with that same development, Wolff's a superstar.

Ya ****ed up, man. Just embrace it. Don't go all Pioli and spend the next 3 years throwing effort at this glorified late-round spread monkey while refusing to swallow your pride and draft a replacement with more raw talent.

Yeah, I'm already regretting it. Especially since I had two bloody first round picks.

I could have easily picked my pass rusher, looked at the teams ahead of #14 and jumped in front of Cleveland.

Damn!

I'll just have to ****ing break him in two with Meeks.

You passed on a franchise QB so you could reach on a run-plugging MLB. Good work; you passed on Andrew Luck so you could take Brandon Spikes and Ryan Tannehill.

Clayton Pioli.

To be perfect honest, that middle linebacker is ****ing Ray Lewis reborn. It was a great pick.

But, yeah.

Fuuuuuu

The first time Robby Chase sails a deep one I'm going to be mad.

Did Alex Smith turn the ball over 40 times? Because if not, I think we can positively identify the problem with Clay's offense.

Hint: It's Clay.
