I admit to being a Glock fan. The 26 model gives you 10+1 rounds (9mm). The 36 is 6+1 rounds (.45 GAP). Both are tremendous pistols, it just depends on if you're a "stopping power" kind of guy. Also, both are roughly the same size as what you're looking at.

I got the .38sp version of a Taurus just like that for my mom. It's been decent, but the trigger pulls pretty hard and it's not very accurate beyond 15 feet...

I have a Taurus Millenium 9mm that I've had for a couple of years, but it's a little large for light clothing.
A month or so ago I picked up a Sig P.238 .380 that I like a lot. It's a miniature version of the 1911 frame, but in the same size range as the lcp. |

I will pretty much just carry it on occasion, that is going to be mainly a night stand gun for the wife to have access to since I work nights.... don't want her to have to mess with my Ruger ... she also has a pump shotgun filled with bird shot to prevent shooting thru walls as well....

I like revolvers. However, my j frame is the handgun I shoot the worst. The sights are just awful. Also, if you are thinking about getting a .357 J frame...I would advise against it. Get 38 +P. 357 out of a j frame is punishing to shoot (especially the really light ones). It is also harder to get back on target...which magnifies the bad sights problem. I have a 357 j frame, and I wish I would have purchased it in 38 special instead. Now I know all of you are saying that "you can fire 38 out of 357," which is absolutely true. However, the shorter 38's foul up the cylinder really bad. It is really annoying to clean, and it has to be reducing accuracy. I never shoot 357 out of the damn thing any more anyway. I keep it loaded with 38 +p.

I inherited one of those CIA 357's from my Dad. It's got a very, very heavy trigger, that's about the only thing that doesn't suit me. Otherwise, as a front pocket carry pistol it's fine (front pocket carry suits me better than inside the belt carry, when I can get away with it). Get a pocket holster, I like the DeSantis pocket holsters for the money. I have another Taurus, the Millenium 745. Small gun, but shoots 45acp. Not a pleasant all day plinker, but it hides well and I like it. I think their 945 is more common, and not much bigger.
All the people touting the Glock, in various flavors, are giving pretty good advice. Their smaller models (the 19, for instance) are easy to carry, still big enough to shoot well. Recommended.
