(AP Photo/Stephan Savoia) Kansas City announced the signing of offensive tackle Anthony Dima and rookie wide receiver Adam Drake, and waived wide receiver Armon Binns and rookie outside linebacker Sage Harold to make room on the roster. The 6-6, 295-pound Dima entered the league on May 12, 2014 as an undrafted free agent out of Massachusetts with the Cleveland Browns, who waived him seven days later. The Houston Texans claimed Dima off waivers before releasing him July 27, 2014, two days into training camp, after Dima left the team for what Houston-based news outlets categorized as “personal reasons.” Saturday night’s signing of Dima comes a day after rookie offensive lineman Garrett Frye, who has been lining up at right tackle, suffered a quad injury during practice. Drake played collegiately at Eastern Illinois where he was a first-team All-OVC selection and a third team All-American selection by The Associated Press in 2014 after finishing his senior year with 93 receptions for 1,321 yards and 12 touchdowns. The 6-2, 207-pound Drake finished his college career with 202 catches for 2,979 yards and 26 touchdowns, but went unselected during May’s NFL Draft. The Chiefs needed to address wide receiver depth with rookie Chris Conley (knee), Junior Hemingway (hip) and rookie Jeret Smith (hamstring) nursing injuries. Conley, in particular, hasn’t practiced since suffering his injury on July 29. Binns, who spent time on the Chiefs practice squad in 2014, suffered a knee injury during Friday’s practice prior to Saturday’s waiving. Harold originally joined the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of James Madison. ———- |
