billay, that's kind of what happens when you have a conversation with someone on an a BB, you reply to their posts. And I really, honestly don't mean to make you angry. I'm sorry you got molested. If trolling KU threads helps you cope with it, by all means, carry on. I am going to call your silly posts out though.

No kidding. Judging by the guy's super good grade of Gill 2 years ago and now his poor grade of Weis, I'd say we're gonna see very good things under CW.

So y'all hired Demontie Cross, eh?

http://www2.kusports.com/news/2012/j...medium=ljtweet

Good hire. Mizzou should've brought him back home as our safeties coach when Barry Odom left for the Memphis DC job. Instead we hired Pinkel's !@#$ing nephew with no ties to anywhere useful at all.

I think we'd have kept Will Hines had we brought Cross in, personally. He'll get you guys some good recruits out of St. Louis, IMO. He's also someone that could end up as a good DC on his own some day.

I'm kind of meh on the hire. It looks to me as a "We want more recruits from St. Louis" hire than anything, he's got NFL experience and a good resume... but I just don't see KU breaking into St. Louis consistently...

Maybe I'm feeling that way more because he's bounced around recently, I just don't see him staying at KU very long. eh... we will see.

As with any assistant coach, if he does well, you're going to have to promote him or lose him.

That's the nature of the beast for linebackers coaches, defensive backs coaches, line coaches, etc... If they go out there, do a good job and have a good resume (and by all accounts, Cross fits this description), he's going to want a promotion to a coordinator gig. Otherwise, he'll go to a team that will give him one.

Expecting to hang onto your assistant coaches for more than a few years will have you hiring a bunch of mediocre candidates. The loss of assistants to legitimate coordinator positions or lateral NFL posts actually speaks highly to a programs strength. If you lose Cross in 2 years, it will mean that your program is in better shape than it was for having hired him.

And if he sucks, you guys get to slam the Mizzou guy. Either way, it's a win/win move for the Beakers.

He was fired from Wisconsin so it's not like he chose to leave this time.

He was?

He's still listed on the Wisconsin website as being their special teams coordinator... and there are no reports anywhere of him having been fired.

KUSports.com says this "Charlie Weis has hired DeMontie Cross away from Wisconsin to coach the linebackers".

I don't think he was fired.

Don't you know? All KU coaches are cast-offs. Why else would you come work at such a terrible place?
