Veach mentioned 3 UDRFA’s when talking about making the roster

Back to football guys. Not gonna post the link bc it’s KCStar.

Veach was apparently on the radio and mentioned these 3 guys by name when talking about making the roster:

Penn St LB Curtis Jacobs
Marshall T Ethan Driskell
FSU DT Fabien Lovett

Veach said that they were close to drafting Driskell in the 6th and 7th rd. Sounds like he was on the short list and just missed getting the call from us.

Still surprised that Lovett and wasn’t drafted considering he’s got really long arms , big hands and fits the bill size wise even though he’s a run defender. Driskell is a size guy but didn’t hear about him

Was shocked Jacobs didn’t get drafted considering his versatility and size/speed along with production at Penn St.

Anyone else you may add? Possibly Emmani Bailey as RB3? Seems like there’s only gonna be about 4-5 spots open for these guys to win this year at camp

These three guys, who I’m not saying are locks in the NFL career wise, are why you don’t over draft or over pays guys at certain positions unless they’re special.

This is especiallyTrue at LB.

Veach is so good at his job it’s crazy

I'm very high on Bailey tbh and think he has a real shot at making the roster. Carson Steele is also a very interesting prospect who can be very effective in short yard situations plus double as a fullback. Lastly Miles Battle has all the physical ability to be a top corner. It's just a matter of him having a good camp and showing he can understand the scheme. It's a very exciting UDFA group this year that's for sure and I wouldn't be surprised if five or six of them make the roster.

That may be the thing. If he's a solid short yardage/3rd down guy might get him on the team. We need a physical HB for 3rd and short and we need a pass blocking HB in case they don't bring McKinnon back. Now, he's not much of a pass catcher or route runner but you know he'll be a willing if not polished blocker.

Plus the guy reminds me of Joe Dirt...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

He's actually been very effective with his hands in his three years in college. He got 17 and 29 catches respectfully over his last two seasons for 160 yards in each year. And in many games he often caught six passes. So I definitely think he could develop into a very good fullback if he puts in the work. It would be interesting to see what Andy would do with a quality fullback.
