2012 NLCS. One win from another WS appearance.
2013 World Series. Two wins from another World Series Championship
2014 NLCS. Three wins from another WS appearance

  • Made the postseason 10 times in the last 14 seasons.
  • Only 1 losing season since 2000.
  • Reached the World Series 4 times since 2004 and won as many championships (two) the past eight seasons as it did from 1965 to 2005.
  • Made the NLCS 9 times including the last 4 years 2011-2014
  • Three million attendance? Take it to the bank.
  • 65 post season wins since 2004. 22+ wins more than any other team.

I honestly think Lyons will be a better starter than Marco over the next 3-4 seasons if he were given a chance. He already has a better fastball and an mlb average slider (that he's developed the ability to get on top of and make it a bit of a slurve at times). His changeup lags behind Marco's but not as much as you might think, especially when Marco's 'thing' his his change.

I just don't see what makes Marco Gonzalez a hotshot prospect and Tyler Lyons an afterthought. Lyons is more polished, has better raw stuff right now and has advanced every year he's been in the organization. No, he's not projectable at all at 27 yrs old, but I honestly don't see much projection in Gonzales anyway, even at 23. I think what Lyons is now is only a little worse than Marco's peak projection.
It seems kind of foolish to be to suggest that there is no projectability in Gonzales at 23.

With both you are dealing with small sample sizes on the ML level, but Marco's fastball and slider both provided more runs above average than did Lyons'. On top of that, he has a developing changeup which shows utility, and his two seamer/cutter combo allows him to get a pitch in on the hands of batters of both hands.

And Tim Cooney? He has Mark Buehrle K rates in minor league ball, and his FB tops out at like 88. At least Lyons and Gonzales throw w/in a half mph of each other.

Cooney is a classic AAAA pitcher. Maybe he can turn into a LOOGY. Maybe.

I'm on the Zobrist wagon, or **** it, Chris Davis.
Technically, Zobrist can play first, but his bat doesn't help the Cardinals where they need help.

Davis, like Reynolds, has bizarre reverse platoon splits this year, but Reynolds' is actually pretty consistent against both over his career.

I'd rather go after a guy like James Loney, who puts the ball in play, and even though he only gives a team about 1/2 the power of Adams, he can at least provide quality ABs

I think that the Cardinals and Mo's Holliday replacement is Piscotty. Thats why they changed his swing for more power and give him another year to get use to the new swing.

Or at least their hope i that he is the replacement.

If it's a grade 2 like is being reported hopefully Holliday can be back within 6 weeks. So it's not as gloom as first thought.

Yeah, its all over Twitter, grade 2. 4-8 weeks depending on who is tweeting.

If true, thats okay, we can survive that. No reason to make a panic move for 6 weeks. Anyway, We need to know if Grichuk is a bench player or when given the chance will step up.

So 23 straight runners have stolen on this catcher, and he throes Bourjos out by 3 steps.

Someone please tell them to either get in the video room or atop runnijg. ****
