Everything I get is H.264, then I'll convert to a less CPU intensive codec like PhotoJpeg, which is archaic and large, but it doesn't require my CPU to constantly decode.

I was told years ago that everything is filmed in widescreen, then the aspect ratio is converted to 4:3 for broadcast in SD. Being the video novice that I am, I guess I took that too literally.

This may or may not be common knowledge and is only mildly related to the thread.... but did you guys know that the whole shooting jaw concept in the movie ALIENS actually comes from the moray eel? It actually has an ENTIRE jaw hidden within in its body that shoots out JUST LIKE the alien in aliens and thats where they got the concept from. Sorry but I was watching when fish attack and they explained it. #nerdmoment

I'm pretty sure you just insulted a whole bunch of doorstops somewhere!

If what you're doing works for you, no real reason to change it up. Although there are probably ways you can shunt some of the processor load off onto your video card. But we'd be getting into pretty technical territory there, and that's not my strong suit.

I hated Christiansen so much in Star Wars that I've never watched anything else he's been in. Just assuming that he'd make it suck with the sheer power of his epic suckiness.

Jumper was a really cool movie, despite Christensen's casting.

As a fellow Sci-Fi guy, I'd highly recommend it.
