Any 2015 Silverado Drivers Here?

My son turns 16 in October. I got him the truck now to get used to during his permit period. I decided on this one because it allows him to phone and text hands free among other things. I have a Ford I use when I need to haul dirt bikes or other things and don't know Chevy. Any tips, tricks, recommendations or words of wisdom about driving or upkeep?

My son is extraordinarily good with motorized vehicles.
This. New drivers under estimate distance/speed/turns. That is what happened to my son where he almost rolled it. With your sons' experience, this shouldn't be a problem.

If he has to get in a wreck if rather it be in a big ass vehicle with modern safety equipment and the On-Star airbag deployment service.
Understood and makes sense, but the above mentioned issues have been out for a few years. Buying a brand new vehicle, in my opinion, is a lousey use of money. You could buy a 2-3 yr old nice truck at ~1/3 cost of new. I will never buy a new car again. (My Dad worked for GM for 35 yrs and I have nice discounts). I just hate that first year depreciation

Again, if money is not really an issue, I have no probs (lol, like that matters)

Good Luck, I am sure your son will love it.

BTW, what are the ages of your other sons? Hopefully not 16,15,14. If so, they will all want the same type of vehicle...

Good pickup. What model/engine/cab did you get?

Get a Rhino Liner. It won't be that much money in comparison to the rig.

If they still use goodyear eagles, understand they suck.

They have a ****ing huge front end. Make sure he's good with parking it. Easy to smack something.

Get a toolbox in the back. Throw all your tiedowns and a quart of oil and whatever bike tools he needs in it. I don't know what the jack/spare situation is in the new ones but the 07-13 models were shitterribleassstupid. Get a decent jack and a block to put in the toolbox.

One like this will still allow him to get a tauna cover if he wants it.

No. Don't do this. Don't ruin your new truck with Rhino. Get top notch and get Line-x. I work at linex and I can't possibly tell you how many Rhino repairs I have on a weekly basis. If you get a Line-x I can probably get you a pretty good deal. And we do all truck accessories too. Message me if you have any interest in that.

Thanks very much for the offer, very kind. It came with an aftermarket spray in liner. Inyati whoever that is.

Wow... you bought your son a 2015 Chevy Silverado?! Damn. Can I be your son? My dad's been driving them for years, and just recently traded his old one in for a 2015. Very nice trucks. I drive a much cheaper 2007 Dodge Ram 1500 which is also good, but no where near as many bells and whistles that even the stock new Silverado's have now.
