Life Is this normal? - Page 3

For 12 years I had my own private office. Six months ago I started working for a new company and now I share an office with 2 other people. Admittedly, after 12 years on my own, I don't like sharing an office, but it is what it is. But these people are driving me crazy. They read and talk to themselves out loud. They're doing their work on the computer or whatever, and while they're working, they read or talk to themselves out loud. It drives me ****ing insane!! The two of them have been working together in the same office for a while, and apparently they've gotten used to it, or maybe talking to yourself out loud is SOP. Do you talk to yourself out loud when you're working? I don't, I keep it inside my head.

She's more subtle. The phone rings... softly, she says "who could that be" She needs to make a call... "I need to call him/her" Even more annoying, she reads back what she's typing, "even more annoying, she reads back what she's typing"

Ha...I'm not close enough to know if Rain Man talks to himself, but we do have one person who talks to himself frequently, one who only does the occasional "hmmm" out loud, and one who hums (like tunes) to herself pretty frequently. Luckily, I don't share an office or anything, so it doesn't bug me much.

I guess I'd say, based on my experience, it's relatively normal. Somewhat annoying, but normal.

Everybody where I work talks out loud. It's not really talking to yourself, just venting frustrations to promote solidarity and camaraderie with other associates. Maybe you should embrace it, or just stick your foot up her ass. One or the other.

I work in cubicle hell though. You don't get to have your own office until you make over like 110K. Even our big whig staff managers have cubicles, but they are just a little larger. It's gay
