Dad Calls Cops on Son to Teach Him a Lesson, Cops Shoot Son Dead

http://gawker.com/dad-calls-cops-on-...oot-1460159897

A father's attempt to teach his son a lesson for taking his truck without permission ended in tragedy Monday after a local police officer shot the teenager dead.

James Comstock told the Des Moines Register he called the police on his son Tyler after the latter took the former's truck in retaliation for refusing to buy him cigarettes.

Ames Police Officer Adam McPherson reportedly spotted the lawn care company vehicle and pursued it onto the Iowa State University campus, where a brief standoff ensued after Tyler allegedly refused orders to turn off the engine.

McPherson eventually fired six shots into the truck, two of which struck Tyler who was later pronounced dead.

The official report claims the action was necessary in order "to stop the ongoing threat to the public and the officers."

Tyler's dad says he was unarmed at the time.

"So he didn't shut the damn truck off, so let's fire six rounds at him?" exclaimed Gary Shepley, Tyler's step-grandfather. "We're confused, and we don't understand."

James said his son had his fair share of minor troubles with the law, and was distraught over a recent breakup with his girlfriend, but was in the process of turning his life around, and was working on obtaining his GED at Des Moines Area Community College.

"He was a smart kid. He made his own computers. He was interested in IT," James told the Register.

The family's demands for answers got even louder following the revelation that a member of the Ames police department suggested twice that officers call off the chase.

"He took off with my truck. I call the police, and they kill him," James said. ""It was over a damn pack of cigarettes."

McPherson is currently on paid leave pending the results of his department's investigation.

Herp . . . . derp.
Are you seriously that ****ing obtuse?

1. He didn't "STEAL" anything. He drove off in his dad's truck, which Im sure he had driven plenty of times until that day. His dad was being a little bitch about the situation, and instead of handling his son when he next saw him, he dialed up the cops. You want to teach your kid a lesson, to take him to the woodshed. You don't send the ****ing cops after him unless you want this kind of shit to happen.

2. The dude had a heated discussion with someone close to him, got angry, and drove off. You act as if this never happens to thousands of people each and every single day. This is hardly maniacal behavior.

3. When the officer first acquires the truck on his dash cam, what is it doing?

Its sitting at a ****ing stoplight. Very erratic, psychotic behavior right there, let me tell you.

His behavior changed as soon as the sirens came on. Whether it was motivated by anger, fear, or psychosis, nobody is ever gonna know because Barney Fife and his sidekick filled the cab with bullets instead of disabling the truck and arresting him.

This is a good lesson for everyone. Don't involve the cops unless youre cool with someone getting killed. They don't handle shit like they used to.

I already told you, the kid deserved the bullet. I don't give a **** about the kid's fate. The dispatchers told them to stop pursuit because the chase had become a serious danger to innocent bystanders. I'm sure if your wife or kid died just so the cops could get their man at the end of an exciting chase you would be changing your tune. Especially since they knew where the kid lived.

Your and idiot.

Sitting patiently at a stoplight does not count as endangering the public. If youre going to post something this stupid, at least fake a stroke first.

So LE officers shouldn't pull anyone over or pursue them for fear they might make the suspect act irrationally?

Brilliant conclusion.

I would guess because he didn't want to go to jail over a technicality involving his father being too big of a bitch to handle this situation himself and saying the kid "stole" his truck.

Why don't we read the interview about why he ran?

Oh wait, dead people don't answer questions. Mah bad.

Good....so blame the Dad for the death of his son then. Or how about you blame the dipshit kid who took something that wasn't his because he threw a temper tantrum about not getting cigarettes. As far as I'm concerned.....good ****ing riddance.

Again, the prior behavior to the 'chase' was completely rational and I'm sure the suspect was exhibiting all the "patience" in the world.

You're exactly the kind of cop that's giving cops a bad name. Nobody said the cops should never pursue a suspect. But when that pursuit becomes a serious danger to innocent people, you have to do a little critical thinking (I know that's hard for a cro-magnon brownshirt like you), Is catching a car thief worth putting the lives of a whole bunch of innocents in danger?

Case by case basis. In general, you would be correct.

In this instance, they knew everything they needed to know. He got into an argument with his dad and drove away. They knew exactly who the kid was, where he lived, its not like this kid was getting away with taking the truck.

But yeah, lets force the issue, endanger lives, and ultimately kill this kid because we want to handle it now, and not in a couple hours.

It was twice suggested to back off, by police personnel. You act as if backing off and picking him up later is the most ridiculous thing ever.

Yeah, lets just kill him.

The kid was stealing unless his name is on the title of the truck or his dad said he had permission to take it. The kid was a ****ing moron, but I guess that's what happens when you're raised by a moron. The dad knew the kid was having a hard time and instead of letting the kid leave for awhile to clear his head he decides to call the cops. Nothing like a little grand theft auto or joyriding charge on your record to bring father and son together.

The police did their job and while it's a shame someone died, it could have been worse.
