Live music performance that brings a little dust into the room.
I've come across two spectacular performances on YouTube recently that were so good they got me a little choked up.
Just wondering if anyone has seen either or come across others that are just *that* good. Stairway to Heaven - Kennedy Center Honors Firework - Night of Too Many Stars |

I go see Heart pretty often. They usually always do at least a couple of zeppelin numbers and they're the best zeppelin cover band I've ever seen.

Word has it that both will take the stage for an encore 30 minute tribute to Zep.

Heh. I've gone to exactly one rock concert in my life, and it was Heart, 1986. I just never got around to going again for a variety of reasons (excuses), but I like to think that I knew when to quit while I was ahead.
I knew they'd been doing Zep for years and they did "Rock and Roll" that night. I remember Ann Wilson saying she had a chest cold and apologizing in advance for it, but she needn't have. She just ****ing wailed as always. |

One that is *that* good for me comes from the Cheap Trick DVD Silver celebrating their 25th year.Robin Zander's daughter joins him for this song and Rick Nielsen's son is also playing (drums as I recall). They're also joined by the Rockford symphony and a high school choir from their city.

This song gets me choked up almost every time. The lyrics and bittersweet tone are too much. |

there is very little originality/depth in music these days. folks are afraid of rejection in a mega way. most bands back then would be considered insane/creepy now. I will stop there. I imagine I simply sound old to many of you, but you just had to be there to know what I miss about those days. forgive me, I'm just a sentimental old **** having a moment. for those of you that like the zep and perhaps have never seen them in their heyday, please view the live doc film of "the song remains the same" for a look at zep at their best. I was at the first night of that 3 day booking, carnegie hall. they were just atomic to me. I'd post a vid but I don't want to hijack this thread further than I already have.

lol yes the gardens, my mistake. the band was on fire imo. there was a lot more embellishment to songs and I really liked jimmy page's work there. he was so intense & musical in a rock sort of way. slop -- by today's standards, but alas.. that was rock. I saw the band a few more times that decade, the '73 concert was best for me.
