30 didn't bother me too much, but for some reason, I dread 40.

12...I realized I was one-sixth of the way through the average lifespan of a male at the time. It was horrendously depressing. Plus my presents were subpar.

I envision people in their 40s still often being young and vital. At age 50, I see gray hair. 50 is the age of dread for me.

30 was very difficult, traumatic. More so than 40 and 50. 60 no longer seems old.

Thirty seems like it will be tough. I'm only 2 years away, but my hair has recently begun thinning, my metabolism is slowing down, I curse young kids and their terrible music, and I feel out of touch when I talk to a woman younger than 24 at the bar.

30 was awful. My life was a mess, I had the worst job ever, and serious drug problems. Bad, bad times.

Hopefully 30 will have been the worst. I wasn't a druggie like Tim, but I was a loser for a lot of other reasons, plus recently divorced with no hope of ever doing anything meaningful with my life. Not a whole lot has changed in two years, some things are better some aren't, but I can't imagine things getting worse short of death in comparison to what my 30th birthday was like.
